Default (+11) Anyone else have a cracked bumper problem here in socal?

Hey NASIOC!

I'm a soon-to-be 2011 OBP WRX owner here.

I originally wanted to introduce myself here with some pictures of my car, but I don't get it until later this month.

There's been threads about front bumper cracks LINK.
I've been getting more and more nervous, but I'm starting to think that this problem might be limited only to those who live in cold snowy areas (Cold + bumper = brittle?)

So anyways, I was just wondering if anyone here in Socal has had this bumper problem. If so, I might decide to buy the STI front lip spoiler to try and prevent the cracking.

Thanks guys!

Should just buy the sti front lip spoiler because it adds some low key flare to the car and call it a day.

My 03 front bumper cracked 3 times that was in CO. After I moved here no issues. I believe it must be the cold snowed up roads making the plastic brittle. I'm sure if you ask in the snowboarding thread you'll have a few guys there that have cracked some bumpers lol

Most of the guys on that thread hit "soft snow". Sounds like they're downplaying the impact and need scape goats for their bad driving.

Another question guys!!

Do you guys feel the need to get mudflaps? IMO i feel like they stick out too much and don't look that great.. Since we're here in Socal, I feel like they're unnecessary.

Input?

it maybe a bit overkill but I think it makes our subies look 50 times better. That and a front lip hahaha. Hell I even put mud flaps on my prius. Looks not so ***** anymore lol

I hear a lot of guys using them because of rocks hitting your paint. I know 08 up have a big issue with that and mud flaps help with these issues

A lot of SoCal drivers will tell you they do NOT like the look of mudflaps (except this guy up here) ^^^

Now I'm here too^^^^

Most people I hang out with like the mud flaps. There's even a big thread here on nasioc for diy mudflaps as well as many vendors who sell them. Who would have figured?

If you're looking to get mudflaps because you don't want rocks to hit your paint, then yes. If you're getting them because you think they make your car look better, then no. Do they make your car look better? No.
