whats up having a small issue. so i bought a wrx was told it needed valve cover gaskets but ended up being head gaskets and heads not torqued down. long story short i did all maintenance i needed and put it all back together properly. i double checked everything but now when i go to start the car it doesnt start. it turned over after charging the battery a bit but i hear a thumping and my oil light came on but im not leaking (thank god). i was thinking it could be that my ecu may be fried. the car is a 2002 wrx if anyone could help itd be great, thanks.

if your oil light is on, you've probably got something else wrong. did you put oil in it?

timing belt is timing perfect oil light went off. put enough oil of it although i did find a leak on the oil feed line but i kept tring to start the car with the hood open. i shut the hood to give it a rest and i figured one more try and it started right up but wont stay started and my battery keeps needing a charge. i know the cars not ****ed it was running fine before i pulled it. i checked the ecu, checked out fine. also the thumping doesnt happen when the hoods closed.. so confused any takes on this?.. Also i appreciate all the help guys

im thinkin it could be a serious muffler bearing problem.....or even worse, continium transfunctioner.

lol. in all honesty though.
we swapped my ecu into the car and the same problems persisted. the thumping is coming from the fuel pump (sounds like a helicopter) and the vibrations can be felt through the fuel lines in the engine bay. thumping primarily happens when the battery charger is left on it. even though the key is OUT of the ignition. i checked all the relays, everything is connected properly. it's just really weird. the pump only primes properly when the hood is closed which is ****ing weird. it makes me think the hood is grounding something out. the car has the factory alarm, so that rules out any killswitches. i plan on ripping out the turbo timer tomorrow, hoping that maybe it's causing interference in the wiring harness, or the kid who installed it screwed some **** up in the ignition and i'm gonna check over all the connectors in the engine bay. it's very odd because the car ran somewhat smoothly before we even pulled the motor and we never really touched any of the electronics so there's no reason for any of this **** be going on. this thing is frustrating as hell. i know my way around a subaru pretty well but this thing keeps out playing me on every turn. |
