Default Maxwell Power 2.34L Long Rod and 2.5L Engines Group Buy

CLOSING THE GROUP BUY FRIDAY THE 18th

The main setup that we'd like to sell is the 2.34L. This engine has proven itself in many occasions to make more power on less boost and carry a wider power band at high hp levels than ANY OTHER subaru engine made. Power bands that are 3-5K rpm wide at over 400whp is unheard of if you don't have one of our engines.

Here are a couple threads with these types of engines:
WRX with Modified 2L heads:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2086005
STi with non-functioning AVCS:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1941158

Videos:

To get this pricing, we need to sell 4. If we sell 8 the price drops $300.00

Blocks Sold: 5

Here's the details:
2.34L Long Rod Shortblock

*Sleeved Block using custom Darton Sleeves with the machine work done by Dan Benson. The blocks are 100% Guaranteed not to drop.
*99.5mm bore
*75mm Stroke
*Custom JE Pistons 9:1 Compression ratio when used with STi 57cc heads
*4340 H-beam 132.5mm rods (+2mm longer than oem) with ARP L19 rod bolts
*ACL Race Bearings
*Full Blueprint and Balance
*MPS Spec 10 or 11mm oil pump

This shortblock is capable of over 9k rpm operation as seen on YouTube and NASIOC.

$4995.00

Also available:

2.5L Long Rod
*Sleeved Block using custom Darton Sleeves with the machine work done by Dan Benson. The blocks are 100% Guaranteed not to drop.
*99.5mm bore
*4340 H-beam 132.5mm rods (+2mm longer than oem) with ARP L19 rod bolts
*79mm OEM 09 STi Crankshaft
*ACL Race Bearings
*Full Blueprint and Balance
*MPS Spec 10 or 11mm oil pump
*8.2:1 Compression Ratio when used with STi 57cc heads for high boost
*8k rpm 800+hp

$4995

2.5L
Same as above except:
OEM Length (130.5mm) Crower I beam rods.
9.4:1 Compression Ratio when used with STi 57cc heads. Excellent for e85
8k rpm 800+hp

$4995

2.34L
Same as above, but with:
*75mm Billet Crankshaft with straight through oiling
*4340 I beam rods (build time is 8 weeks on this engine as the rods will have to be made custom. )
*capable of 10k rpm, 1000hp (Actual Power limit and rpm limit unknown.)

$5995.00

The reason this is considered a group buy is because the sleeving and the pistons have to be ordered in bulk to facilitate such a low price. Otherwise, this build would be over $1k more. Save over $1k and buy your new race engine.

If you are serious I can run some numbers and talk with Craig. We might be able to work something out.

Edited the original post to clear up some accidentally misleading wording. My apologies for any confusion.

Well it's more that it has Darton Sleeves. Using the stock ones at the power levels and abuse I'll be putting it through sits at the back of my mind. If you want to run some numbers on getting it sleeved I'll see where it goes. That and I just love the idea of revving to 9.5k lol

I visited Dan when he used to be in Santa Ana, CA. He had just acquired his cnc machine. One of the very best in his business. This is my next build.

How long would you expect the 2.34 block to last with a dom3/4 on it?

Longer than you'd have the car.

As long as I'm the only one to drive it. There is a difference between reliability and failures from abuse. Since I can't control the driver, then no I can't. If I had the money I'd love to be able to.

They have the best machinist to install sleeves. I expect the new shop to be like an operating room if it's like their last one. Measure, check, measure, double check. It's up to the driver to take care of the motor after that, prime oil, good tune, proper break in, don't abuse.

Correct me me if I am wrong but I have been told my numerous people that sleeving will not be as strong or reliable as a untouch 2.5 liter?

Oh, and which billet cranks are you guys using?

Ok. They're wrong.

Factory sleeves even in untouched motors fail all the time (complete failure or even lots of small cracks). The issue with sleeves is that so many people install them improperly which results in sleeves dropping and many blown headgaskets. We stopped doing sleeved blocks for a year because we couldn't find a shop that could install them properly, until now.

The cranks are...well.... we get them from the same company as a few other vendors do with their name on them. They are the same as the K1 crank if you need a reference. We don't part mark them like the competitors because it's pointless in my opinion. The crank is going to be hidden in the engine and nobody is going to see it anyway. Might as well save money and not waste time doing it.

You don't have to buy these blocks in sleeved form. We offer them in new cases, but they don't have as high of a hp limit because the factory sleeves are so weak and thin.

Too bad I sold the STI, I've always wanted one of these. Next year I'm hoping to do a GC STi swap and this would be awesome. Heres to hoping the economy picks up so I have more money.
