Default Does the engine oil pressure warning light dim?

The engine oil pressure warning light is on in my '02 OBS, sort of. I just got back from a 5 day vacation and started it up. Oil pressure warning light lights up along with the seat belt light when started, then OP light goes out, but then comes back on although very dim. First time it's ever done this. Oil level is ok and no oil on the ground.

Does the OP warning light dim, and if so, why? Or should it only be on or off if OP is low?

Thanks

OP:
I'm not sure how Subaru has their light wired up, but usually the oil pressure light is grounded through the sensor. When you turn the car on the oil pressure inside the sensor pushes on a diaphragm and moves a set of electrical contacts apart, removing the ground and making the light go out. It's either on or off, like a light switch.

If the light is on dimly it (usually) means that the bulb is getting a partial ground somewhere. The sensor could be bad, there could be a short somewhere or something could be backfeeding into the wiring. Get yourself a wiring diagram and check for power and ground. It should be a pretty simple system.

^ You pretty much got it. It's a grounding issue.

Tighten it a touch and the light usually goes out. This is pretty common for cars that see a lot of moisture. It can be removed and cleaned/replaced too. I've neaver heard of it being anything other than the sensor connection to the block so that's a good place to start.

If there's an oil pressure problem is will be ON

Thanks for your replies and great info. I'll check the sensor, connections and wires.
