New model to be offered by Murtaya Sports Cars

Work has started on a new model by………Murtaya Sports Cars. The Devon company say that they release the name of the new car once they have it legally protected.
Details are still to be announced but the new car will be a sister car, not a replacement to the MSC Roadster R. It will be based on the 1998-2003 Subaru Legacy ( a very cheap and under-rated Donor), this allows for a wider track and slightly wider and longer passenger compartment. One of the main features will be lower sill heights, allowing for a larger door with fully opening windows. The new model will take its styling from the coupe concept pictures that have been on the interweb for a while.
Engine options will be 2-litre and 2.5-litre Turbocharged and normally-aspirated and the 3-litre flat six. MSC is looking at a 12 to 18 months development with the car being initially available in coupe form only, with a convertible version following later.
The company is still developing, and improving, the MSC Roadster R for road and rally, with an MSA logbook RallyWorks soon to be having its first outing on the tarmac rally scene. They also hope to have their NEW Roadster RTS demo car ready for Stoneleigh. This new demo car will be one of the most powerful MSC Roadsters built-to-date with a power to weight ratio north of 550bhp per tonne.

I only know my later model Impreza lines...what was the 98-2003 USDM Legacy like? I'm guessing they didn't have the turbo, six speed, etc. at this time (at least not in the US)? Sounds like the H6 will fit right in from the start with this one...

Oh well, if it's anything like the Murtaya, I wouldn't expect one in the states anytime soon. :\

Well, that depends... since the Legacy was two different models during those years.

The 2nd gen Legacy was '95-'99 and the 3rd gen (multilink rear suspension) was '00-'04.

I hope it ends up looking far better than the Murtaya ended up.

The drawings originally looked great, then the actual body showed up looking bulky and bulbous. Not great.

I guess we'll find out. But as Mike mentioned... probably not in the US.

Frankly, I wonder if it wouldn't be better just to sink the money into buying and keeping up a pristine SVX with a manual gearbox conversion.

The parts for that production-grade Subaru are scarce enough... without trying do deal with an ultra-low custom car maker from overseas.

I wonder how much of a challenge it will be to balance the car with basically the same front end weight, but half at the back end.

The drawing looks nice, but the proportions don't seem proper for a traditional Subaru layout. It looks more proportioned for Miata/RX-8ish front/rear layout with the short front overhang.
