Default Leaking coolant, help!

Friday night I hit the dragstrip, no problems.

Saturday I go out with a local car "club" for a cruise. We tore up some back roads at a decent pace, I stayed in 3rd-4th most of the drive, on and off boost. When we stopped for a minute, I smelled coolant, I looked around, and didn't see a leak, so we pressed on. We eventually stopped at a gas station, and again, I smell coolant, so I pop the hood. First thing I notice is the coolant resevoiur(sp?) is almost filled to the top, it wasn't before the trip. I check the temp guage, and it's normal. I open the radiator, and it's damn near filled with steam. I peek under the car, and I can see a trickle of coolant dripping off of the block.

We park the car's in a parking lot, and pop the hood to let it cool for a bit. I check the radiator levels, and it's damn near empty, so we grab some water from the store, and fill it up. Then I limped the car back to our place of orgin, and parked it in the garage. By now, the coolant is dripping out at a good pace. I park it, and pop the hood. Check the radiator, and it's full. The temp guage stayed normal for the trip, and the heater continued to blow hot air.

After a few hours, I checked on the car again. The resevoir is down back to normal, and the radiator is still full, so I limp it home. On the trip, there's no funny business from the temp guage. Holds at normal, like usual.

I got a good look at where the coolant was coming from, and it looks like it's coming from around the water pump. It's hard to describe without a picture, but I did blow a waterpump before, and the leak from that pump failure wasn't from the same place as it is now. Also, when the last waterpump died, the temp needle was all over the place depending on RPMs, and speed.

Any ideas?

Have you checked the oil for coolant comtamination? Doesn't sound good, but if you're not blowing it out the exhaust, dripping it out of the turbo, or getting oil in the coolant/vice versa... sounds like the water pump.

I just checked the oil, and it's not contaminated. There wasn't any smoke coming from the tail pipe when I was driving sat either.

I thought water pump, but the temps are normal.

possibly also from the headgasket, I know when colins blew, there was no contamination, but there was coolant leakage, it was a clean blow from one of the water channels straight to the edge of the gasket, so only coolant would leak, I think. can't remember exactly

can't remember if his was blowing any smoke or not though.

crap, sorry I didn't help any
good luck

The car is at the dealer now, they called and said it was the Waterpump that failed. It's being fixed under warrenty.

so lucky, my dealer won't even look at my car for any sort of troubleshooting, let alone find the problem, and fix it under warranty

well, this is the second pump in less than a year, the first was was fixed under warrenty as well. I told them straight up, I know there is no way the added torque and HP will cause the waterpump to fail.

If they cannot prove the turbo caused the failure, they have to fix it under warenty.
