Mercedes BLS set for 2014 launch

Engine options remain shrouded in mystery, but Auto Express is reporting choices will include a 2.0-liter petrol with 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and a 2.2-liter diesel that develops 170 hp (127 kW / 172 PS). Additionally, the car could be outfitted with Renault engines as a result of their recent alliance with the French automaker.

Unless someone REALLY wants that Mercedes badge on their car, I can't see people settling for a 200hp 2L. And I assume that's a four banger too?

I see tons of C230's running around that make about 200hp. It's not for me, but apparently some people are willing to pay extra for the je ne s'ais pas that comes with the badge.

Disagree, buyers won't see it as 'settling' at all.

the front end seems a bit scrunched up - like it hit a wall already

I think it would look a lot better if the bottom part of the MB grill was gone and have it sit lower to the ground some - but I guess you need the extra height for interior space and such. Some front end similarities with the SL
