I think HDR looks good when you don't saturate the **** out of it, when you use it in layers with others. But kids now just snap a picture, put it into HDR mode and that's it, you end up with weird shadows around the car and it just looks like ass makes it look. Like you made the picture out of sand paper.

Your cars white, why would you edit it to look dirty/grey.

High Pass should be used as a way to augment your contrast.

Take image make a duplicate layer.. drop on highpass change layer mix to overlay and cut back the opacity. You bump the contrast nicely and end up with a much more striking image.

Do it all the time.. well with about 2 hours of airbrushing as well, layer and lighting, burns.. etc...

Not a suby pic but you get the idea. Pic shot and edited by one off our staff PA1's from the Coast Guard.

I had a version of Photoshop that was great for changing high/mid/low range colors. Now that I have PS case its not as easy, do you know if lightroom(I think) is easier to use in photo editing?

Not sure.. never used lightroom.

I use a combination of raw editing, bridge and photoshop CS5.5... most of our stuff is shot on a Nikkon D3 Variant, either x or s.

That one was with a Fixed focal 200mm f1.8 I believe.

Most is done either on mouse or wacom, using a mac pro tower w 32 gigs of ram, clovertown 8 core processor, on a 32 terrabyte xsan fiberchannel network.

Love my job lol.

I'm the graphic illustrator for the U.S. Coast Guard... plus own a lil advertising company on the side. If ya ever need some tips be glad to pass a lil along.

This is a fun ad I put together last year.
