first off, the kit i am looking at is the Ludespeed stage 1 kit for my 99 2.5
current list of performance mods: ACT clutch- the street one JUN flywheel Bruillen Headers Bruillen Cat-Back @ 2.25in PRM intake Ill start by saying that i dont know anything about turbos, how they work and whatever so thats why i want a full kit that doesnt make insane power. I have a friend that knows godly ammounts of stuff on turbos and has installed them for a few of his friends, so he might be installing the kit for me. But i have a few questions id like to be taken seriously: OK i know that 2.25in catback exaust is too small for this kit to perform as expected, so i will probally be replacing it with a 2.5 that said, what about the headers? are they ok to leave on? i think the diamater of them is 2.25. Does anyone have this kit and installed it themself? Can i trust LUDESPEED's directions with someone who has installed turbos on cars like civcis and SE-Rs or should i go to a specialist? those are my questions for now, i thank anyone who can give me awnsers. Peec, B

no the brullen headers will not work with a turbo, only a header that ends at the same point and orientation of the stock headers will work.
and yes, the ludespeed kit is a great kit, and he is a great vendor. I would however recommend getting an intercooler though. it's just not safe to run any amount of boost on our cars without an intercooler, I have a stage 1 kit, with a SAAB 900 stock intercooler. do a search and you should find plenty of info, both about the ludespeed kit, and the saab 900 IC. |

you could also find a tuner shop that can make you a custom uppipe for the turbo kit. Its dueable. if you want to use the same headers.

i'm pretty sure the Borlas end where the stock cat ends. the stock header unit is a 4 - 1 unit with an intermediat pipe with 2 cats before connecting to the cat back. with most bolt on kits, the intermediate pipe is removed leaving a header unit with the outlet facing the right side of the car slightly behind where the headers attach to the block. the up pipe connects to the headers, it goes up, comes down and then meets up with the cat back. pictures would probably help but i don't have any.

the borla headers end where the stock headers do, so they will work fine.
the brullen headers are the ones that end where the stock cat pipe currently ends, so that will not work at all, we already have an excess of exhausting piping before the turbo, no need to lengthen that any more than it already is. as far as I know, the stock, and borla headers are the only headers that will work with any turbo kit. you could get wrx headers as long as they ended where the wrx uppipe bolts on, then you can just fab up your own uppipe from there, but that's all pure custom work, don't expect any kit maker to fab that up for you ![]() |
