I wouldn't mind some of that 300HP loving. 400 is too much $$ for just my commuting and weekend excursions.

Talking The 400HP Variety

Let's say you found 12K in the breast pocket of a winter coat you haven't worn since last year...and lets say you decided to drop that sweet little engine into a Legacy.

Would that much power require a transmission/differential change? Complete swap or just beefier internals? Gigantic Brakes would be a must.

first thing that would probably go would be 1st & 2nd gear. The diff's don't seem to be the normal failure point.

Again....the tranny's life depends on how you drive it.....or abuse it....

Thats a cool picture, except that its not a subaru flat engine

The bottom half of the image is completly wrong. It shows the oil being contacted on every turn. If this happened in a real engine you would end up with petroleum jelly and there would be no flow of oil to the engine.

edit: darn its flash, I wanted to save that!

It is not a working model, just for teaching purposes. I think it gets the point across.

You can save Flash objects(most), While the object is playing (game, movie, intro,etc...), Leave the Flash object in an open window and do a search for *.swf files on your computer. There won't be many if any at all other than the one Flash object your watching (which should be in a temp folder somewhere, but dont worry about that) so picking the right one isn't hard. Then just drag that SWF file to a folder such as 'My Documents' and open with IE! You can now always play that Favorite flash game, etc.... without DLing it!

All great links and yeah I wouldn't mind have 300 something horsepower on tap at the go pedal if I wasn't afraid of grenading the tranny. Guess I'd need to make sure it was an auto.
