Default STI Front Lip for 2011 WRX

Good morning,

I ordered my new WRX about 2 weeks ago and have been going over which factory accessories I want to purchase for it. I saw that the STI front lip was an option. Not only do I find it visually appealing I also think it would be useful. Protect the front bumper from scraping or damage to some extent. A $300 lip is cheaper than a new bumper! However I'm curious as to how much it would lower the front of the cars ground clearance. It doesn't look like much if at all from the pictures. Does anyone have any input on this? Also if I get the lip for the front would it throw off the looks of the back of the car at all?

Thanks all!

It will lower it enough that you will scrape coming out of certain parking lots, driveways, etc.. i don't know where you live but i think its close already when im stock. My 2005 scraped everywhere with a lip, and i was only lowered less than an inch.

I don't quite understand the thought of buying a lip so you don't scrape the bumper. If you catch something big enough it could mess up the bumper also.

OEM lip looks pretty classic I'm curious when anything better/different will come out down the road since right now from what I know the only option in US is OEM

Yea, the look is awesome but the price isn't. I had a replica on my 05 that looked nearly as good(no mini sti logo) but only cost $90. A lip is going to scrape eventually anyways.

Have it...like it alot. Car is lowered on Epic springs and lip does not scrape anywhere...yet. You do need to drill extra holes to mount it so be prepared for that. Only changes ground clearance by maybe 1" - 1.5"

If you don't want to scrape with a front lip or lowering springs, go over speed bumps and in/out of driveways at an angle. If you don't want to drive at an angle in those situations, don't get a front lip and don't lower the car.

I'm always careful when driving and can't remember the last time I scraped. However my wife, who is a good driver but occasionally pulls into a spot a little to far because she is used to her car has scraped my car in the past. I figured in those instances the front lip might help in the resale value of the car. Just pull it off, if it is damaged, when I go to sell the car, but that might be a dumb idea.

I had no idea it would lower it by over an inch though. I might have to forget it just because I don't want to act like a plow in the winter!
