I think the difference between ďa wee bit if [sic] funĒ and ďracingĒ is dependant on the number of cars. One car moving significantly faster than surrounding traffic might be dangerous/illegal/dumb fun. A slightly more acceptable way of having fun would be to take advantage of your carís handling around corners during light (read: non-existent) traffic conditions by not slowing down as much as you should.

ďRacingĒ ideally occurs on a track with two or more cars, depending on how you want to define time trials or other auto events that Iím unaware of which likely donít apply to what youíre talking about.

In either case, Iím betting that both look eerily similar when youíre doing it, regardless of the number of cars.

I really cant believe you are serious....

And I doubt if a honda joined a cruise you would do anything, at all. Nor would your little 1.8 with no guts leave a civic behind. You'd both be left behind.

I wasn't going to post this but I can't resist. Its too funny not to share. I just won't mention his name.

So I take my sti that I just bought around the block for a spin while finalizing paperwork. I get back to the showroom and the salesman asks:

Him: so how do you like it?
Me: yeah it's great seems ok. Just the shift light was coming on at around 2000rpm. How do you change that?
Him: oh thats not a shift light thats your boost light. It tells you your on boost.

We had to sit down with the manual to prove otherwise. Shame though would like all my boost at 2k.

I hate when stealerships pump info like this into people. Especially because when you get the brotards buying these cars running around saying "HEY LOOK! I have a boost light! Your crappy Evo/WRX doesn't have that!"

I remember when I test drove my STI, the salesman tried telling me that the S-drive effected the suspension as well. He tried selling me on the fact that S# firms the suspension. I wanted to say something, but I knew better than getting in a fight with him over something I was going to buy anyways.

Today a fairly condescending old guy in a Z06 told me my Rally Blue STI had a "pretty rad paint job" lol

This happened about a year ago but still sits in my mind. I went to the dealership with my mom when she was interested in purchasing a new Subaru. She test drove a manual legacy gt and absolutely loved it.

While riding around with the salesman my mom asked what the gt lettering stood for. He replied with "not sure what the g stands for but, I do know that the t means turbo. I can assure you on that one."

She ended buying a 5 speed 2010 forester instead because it better fit what she wanted.

I was shopping for a subaru, and the salesman at a kia dealership noticed that I was looking inside the engine bay of a 350z.

Me: Nice looking engine bay

Salesman: Yeah, it comes with a lot of nice safety features!!!

Me: Like what exactly?

Salesman: See this bar here? (Points at Strut tower brace) Its an extremely strong bar that keeps the engine from flying out of the car in case of a crash!!!

Me: Oh, So that's what that bar is for... (I decided to test the salesman) Do you know why they call it a 350z?

Salesman: I believe it's because it has 350hp... Want to take it for a drive?

Me: No, I'm looking for something a little less sporty, specifically Subaru. what else do you have for Japanese imports?

Salesman: Come right this way (we walk to the end of the lot where he then points out a Dodge Neon) Is this more of what you're looking for?

Me: Never! I'm done here.

god I want a 350z as a play car.. but god help anyone who has to be seen in one every day. A kid I know who buys surfboards from my shaper drives the softtop, he bought a board last winter and had to drive it two hours with the top down back to his place to fit the board. I had 3 boards in my wagon

If that engine flys out, you're screwed. Even if you have a $100 piece of aluminum bar strapping it down. Haha

I believe it's named the 350z because it's a 3.5l. Makes sense to me....

I would entertain a 370Z as my next car; they're pretty quick.

I was fairly sure at the time that it stood for Gran Turismo. But I did know for a fact that the T was not turbo.
