You are correct, its the camber. I was being vague to match the Facebook comment.

The thread is "Funniest phrases/questions you've heard about your Subie." No Subaru in the picture or comments, so why the post? I wouldn't be complaining if I saw something funny. What am I missing?

I was at a party and this fat guy was giving me crap saying how much better his 08 mustang is then my wrx. It finally came to this.

Him: have you ever smoked your tires?
Me: what? Are you kidding?
Him: you know, have you ever done a burn out?
Me: I know what you ment. It's awd, why on earth would I want to do a burn out?
Him: o m g! You've never done a burn out?!?! Your car must suck!!!!
I walked away.

I couldn't believe this 30 year old man was asking like he was 15.

It is weird having all that power and acceleration but never any squealing tires due to subarus great awd. But fast is fast, and squealing tires is really just a car failing to put all the power to the ground anyway, and why would anyone want to do that? Let the guy in the mustang think his car is faster just because he can chirp the tires. Shows his automotive ignorance if nothing else.

I'm gonna admit --- I hate people spinning their tires to show off and stuff -- but when I do sit in a car or drive one that can spin tires or do doughnuts, it certainly brings a smile to my face as it stirs something very childish and primal in me. Not saying it's cool to talk **** just because your car can do it and someone else's can, but it IS a boatload of fun to be able to (even though not very useful).

AWD is dangerously fast. You get on the highway and step on to pass a car at 65 and your going 75-85-95 get around the car still going because racecar and bam your flying down the road at 100+ easily
RWD you step on it and it gets sideways and you feel the car trying to put the power down and the steering wheel is a little floaty same goes for FWD but it torque steers like a bitch! It'll still go those high speeds but you know when it happens and AWD makes it easy to forget that your actually accelerating very quickly.

lol this is so true. I hear people all the time with "oh this thing spins 'em going into 3rd it's so fast" and I am always thinking to myself "congrats on having a poorly set up car."

I could chirp the tires/peel out on my first car, a 1987 Sentra with 70hp.

Exactly.

People think cars like Supra's are fast...a good friend of mine has a 93 Supra with a T78 single set up. I believe he is around 600rwhp which is child's play with Supra's, but I can easily pull on him because Supra's are terrible for putting the power down in street applications. Once he rows it into fourth on the highway, he is gone like a stabbed rat, but the car is very twitchy when boost comes in. Bucket loads of fun but scary as hell at the same time.

We have another guy that is from our same area that has an 03 Evo GSR with a fully built motor and HTA68 set up. I think he is around 600awhp but he will murder the Supra from a dig and from anything below 120km/h.

All of these experiences are track experiences...obviously

It's a waste of a set of tires but I agree that it is damn fun and entertaining given the right place and time.

For something on topic. I was eating lunch with a few of guys who work in the same building as me and this came up. NOt really that funny but the look was priceless.

Guy: I can fill up my Prius for 40 buck and get 40+ MPG
Me: That's nice. I bought a car to have fun in and not worry about gas mileage. So the 20-22MPG I get doesn't really bug me.
Guy: What in the world do you drive?
Me: A WRX. It's just a turbo charged 4 cylinder engine.
Guy: WTH?! You only get 20 MPG from a 4 cylinder? (he then proceeded to give a really funny how the ****/your an idiot look)
Me: (chuckled) Yah, if you were to drive you would understand very quickly why......

+1. Almost ANY car set up with the right stuff and properly can be fast. Remember Top Gear's (UK) V8 turbo-van?

yeah I've seen some crazy Supra's that can really put their power to the ground.

This actually makes me think of a trans am I saw several years ago. I was shopping around for one for my wife. So me ,my wife and a buddy of mine go a bit up north to take a look at one some kid in his mid 20's was selling. I forget the numbers he was claiming but it was supposedly a pretty quick build for a g3 trans am.

Anyway I get there and sure enough the guy had worked the hell out of that engine. IIRC I want to say it was a worked 383 stroker but I could be confusing it. Either way the guy had definately put some money into the motor. It was definately capable of making the power the guy was claiming.

Problem was the car itself was the biggest pile of **** I ever saw. I don't know where that engine had come from but we were all quite positive that if you ever tried to launch this car the entire thing would have twisted and imploded in on itself.

I wish I had pics of the thing. It was literally the biggest pile of rust, zip ties and duct tape I have ever seen.

Haha, thanks for the laugh. I really have no way of knowing, they are probably tired of being with their 95 year old wife that complains about everything, looking for some younger blood.

The night I brought mine home, my wife's friend was over. My wife hears me coming around the block and says "There's Jay's car."

Her friend replies "Is it possessed?!?"

Made me smile when she told me that lol.
