When I was shopping around for a used WRX. I had found a super clean 2005 WRX with 30k on it. The salesman that I went on a test drive with asked me if I was planning on putting a turbo on it. wow!

Heres one about manuals in general:

Some girl asks me:
"why does your car drift back on hills?"
(completely serious too)
"like what's wrong with it?"

Me:
----____----
It's a manual..........

I'm sure a lot of you have heard someone ask you this before though.

Admittedly, it always is funny when it happens, but to be completely fair, if someone's never driven stick in their lives, it makes sense that they wouldn't know.

Yea I know. I still think its funny though.

Or when your at a light or stop sign on a hill, and you see the people behind you get mad when you drift back. I always look in my rear view to see their reactions lol.

Hill assist is a silly addition. How hard is it to let the clutch out some before you let off the brake?

That requires skill and knowledge when it comes to driving a standard transmission... I think we all know those things aren't "common" amongst drivers...

If the hill is steep enough and/or the person behind me is too close I use the handbrake so I don't roll backwards, you only need one hand on the wheel so why not?

Personally I like hill assist. Yeah it's not necessary and I've driven manual for years without it but I think it's neat. Everyone I show it to thinks its nifty as well.

My dad saw my car for the first time a couple weeks ago and asked to see the engine bay. I showed him and the only thing he mentioned was "Looks like its a bitch to get to the spark plugs" in like an almost angry kind of way. The way he said it made me burst out laughing, idk why.

CSB?

I take it you never lived in sanfracisco or a place with a lot of very steep hills?

I live in a place with plenty of steep hills (not quite SF), and I learned quickly how to not roll backwards when stopped uphill. Its not like letting the clutch out is any more inconvenient or even adds any steps to the process, its gotta come out anyway.

Dude in sf you practically need to rappel down some of those hills. That hill assist is a life saver

Not about my Subaru, but funny nonetheless.

On a freeskiing forum that I'm superduper active on (NS) in a "Post a picture of your whips" thread, someone posted an engine bay shot of his friend's 07 STi with an FMIC (intercooler was out of view)...

Kid comments "That's total bull****. That's not an STi, it doesn't have a top mounted intercooler. That's not even a WRX."

Glorious.

not funny just weird. Just heard this when walking into the grocery store from a kid a few years younger than me that went to my high school.
him- "Yo! You haul ass in that thing?"
me- "what?"
him- "you drove that beast in here right? you must haul ass in that!"

I really didnt know what to say. It was such a weird question, i would have preferred a traditional 'Yo that whip SICK sonnn"
