I love it when people correct me on that when I say "Subaru", and they go, "NAH man, it's pronounced 'Su-BAAAA-Ru'. I'm 1/4 Japanese and speak it proficiently. (and 100% Asian - 1/4 Chinese, 1/2 Thai, so it's not like I look white and would pronounce it wrong)

Although I guess in the US people pronounce it a little closer to "Soo-ba-roo".

I'm not japanese, but I tried my best to pronounce it the way I hear it on jdm youtube vids.

I had an older gentleman at the gas station last weekend ask if I had a v8 under the hood, Told him no its a turbo'd flat four. He got all wide eye'd and said "amazing what they can do these days" and complimented me on how it sounded.

Not funny, but I thought it was cool as hell. Went to church a couple of weeks ago and I backed into the last spot in the farthest corner of the lot. I got out of my car and was putting on my suit jacket when a mint Baja pulls up and backs in next to me. An old woman gets out of the car, had to be at least 65 years old, looks over and says "Nice Subi" then walks away... Put a huge smile on my face.

08 sti has black brembos with white sti lettering, not gold nor saying brembo. See how others might get things wrong???

Funniest thing i've read for awhile! I honestly might buy one (those by the way, taste like dog droppings!) And when (if I ever am) i'm asked that question I can say "ya hold on one sec and let me show you," and pop back out of my car holding that gross drink.

GF: Kate
ME. Abgrooms.

GF: "Look at that car in front of us!"
ME: " Its a subaru, looks like the new Forester."

GF: "I really like the way the back looks"
ME: "Yeah?!, its very proportional, its easy on the eyes."

GF: (As we pass by) "Awww look!, its a sweet old lady with her friend!"

ME: "There probably sweet old lesbians...You know? Two woman, in a Subaru..."
GF: "What? No...whats subaru have to with anything?
ME: "Common, look at that thing"

GF: " Okay, well it does look pretty butch. Matter of fact...most subarus look pretty butch."

Yesterday I was just driving, doing 36 in a 35 in the right lane, and suddenly I notice a tan mid 2000's Chevy Impala right on my ass. Last time I checked my mirror there was a Jeep or something ~10 car lengths behind me, they came on my ass fast.

So I start slowing down, downshift into 3rd down to about 20mph, because that's what you're supposed to do to tailgaters. They swerve into the left lane to pass me and I get back on the gas up to around 35mph. I can see them in my side mirror and suddenly I hear a loud noise which is them flooring that poor Impala which is making a lot of noise for a while, THEN starts to accelerate.

As they're passing me, I just look at them with a

face, and I notice it's some kid with a few of his buddies in the car with him. He swerves back in front of me to turn right at a red light which he needs to slam on the brakes for. Next, he does a burnout next to a nice couple in an Audi as he makes the right. I pull up next to the Audi and look left to see if it's clear to turn right and I notice the couple looking at me. I notice no cars coming, I say "Kids. Am I right?" Then turned right.

And a chick in an LGT winked at me earlier last week.

Ive got a few. Was getying my oil changed and the owner is a nice indian guy.

Owner: hey boss. Nice car. What year is it.
Me: thanks, its a 2002.
Owner: I bought my son a celica and we completely pimped it it out. Its got sweet chrome racing wheels, and a low body kit, and we put neon under it. There isnt an area this big (holds his hand up with fingers an inch apart) where theres no light.
Me: cool...
Owner: but man these things are expensive. And walked away

I just stood there dumfounded.

I finished filling up at the gas station and over hear a couple talking about my car.

Gf: what is that (points to my car)
Guy: its a subaru. Must be an sti
Gf: it says wrx on it
Me: start my car and begin to pull away.
Guy: gets all excited and loudly says "no its definately an sti. It sounds way too good to be a wrx!"
Me: leaves with a huge grin on my face

I own a bugeye wagon with turbo back exhaust. Haha.

Had an "African American" (if that's the accepted vernacular) elderly women ask me today as she walked by "cute car, do you race it?"
I said "depends on the car next to me that's trying (with a smile on my face)"
She then asks " do you win, is it fast, its really cute!?" Keep in mind that's all said together very quickly!
I reply " thank you mam."
She then continues walking away seemingly happy.
