Took some Boy Scouts on a camping trip (assistant scout master at the time). I'm driving my wife's '96 Outback and the scoutmaster has a lifted truck. We were in the desert driving down some gnarly roads to find some caves and it was totally flooded from snow melt. Instead of avoiding the holes I drove right through them. Water was splashing up and running over the hood.

One of the boys decided to start calling it the "Submaru"

Guy: you wanna trade for my car? Or buy it off me? I got a Volvo s60 that's been fully built, even all the maintenance parts have been replaced with aftermarket parts!

me: nah I just got the Subaru and I love it's symmetrical AWD and the sound of its boxer motor and the way it drives.

Guy: That's great my volvo has a 5 cylinder boxer motor.

me: what?

guy: yea you know that one less cylinder than the 6 cylinder boxer motor.

after that he kept rambling on about how he changed his AWD to be like Subarus and how his Volvo has 500 hp and how he can beat ferraris. He kept trying to push me into trading or buying his damn volvo
the S60R is a sweet car. shame he was such a tool

Kinda weird, but I work at a lube rack, and instead of having people actually look for the model of the car, the system(sage) actually has an option to just call it an outback( and yes I know that as of 2008 it was a real model), even for the older models. In fact, if you have a 99 legacy with the h6, you HAVE to put it as an outback, to allow for that engine option, even though outback was just a trim line. Kinda pisses me off.

This happened as I was rolling into West Coast Subaru Show 14 last saturday.

Guys at the front gate is organizing cars by model. Ive got a bugeye wrx wagon with morrettes.

Guy: welcome, is that a legacy?
Me: what?
Guy: is that a legacy wagon? Im trying to organize cars here.
Me: with a dumbfounded look on my face, umm no its a wrx.
Guy: oh...uh... Go over there I guess, pointing to someone else directing cars.

Couldnt believe that happened at a subaru specific show.

had a mustang pull up next to me the other night, he started revvin and his friends were all yelling and stuff wanting to race. I just said f**k it, turned on launch control and destroyed him! even when he stopped spinning and was putting down all his power I was still pulling on him.

at the next light he yells, "whaddaya got in there? A v6?" I said, no.. a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder.

he lowered his head and slowly drove off hahahh

No, I am pissed off at "lowest common denominator" marketing when it comes to car service. If you are gonna work on cars, start learning them.

I sell Subarus at JK Subaru and I had a customer that was interested in a WRX. We got on the road for a test drive. He then turns to me and with the most serious face ive ever seen he asks " How do I turn on the turbo".....

wat?

Tons of people have WRX/STI in that power range, privately owned. Hell my car is only 50ish short of the lower # and my turbo is tiny compared to what my car is capable of running. This is even more true if you just consider "HP" instead of "WHP".

I'm just about the definition of some random guy.
