Most places put down '2.5rs' on the receipt or '2.5l engine'.

Not a big difference between 2.5rs and L models, but still. More reason to do my own work.

Kinda like the germans 'gentlemans agreement' of limiting (almost) all of their vehicles to 155mph?

To be fair to those places, if they put "I" as in capital "i", then they'd be wrong (2.5RS and 2.5i).

But in your context, 2.5RS would refer to the model, and if they specifically use the word engine and 2.5L, then they're probably referring to the displacement.

Sorry I said that in a confusing way.

I have an impreza L (2.2l). They write down 'RS' instead of 'L' or '2.5l engine' instead of '2.2l engine'.

Most things are the same between the models, but stuff like brakes, clutch, engine (obvious), gear ratios, ect. are different. Thankfully I only go to those places for tire mounting, inspections, and other dumb stuff.

Got a new boss at work and he has an 05 STi that's in the shop because his flywheel "just broke in half" he was talking about his new clutch and how the old one was completely destroyed. Picture did prove the clutch was destroyed though. So I asked if he was going with another stock one. The conversation went as follows:

Boss: oh no it's a really nice stage 2 clutch!
Me: oh very cool, what kind is it?
Boss: what do you mean?
Me: like what brand?
Boss: oh I don't know but it's really nice!
Me: oh ok. Do you have anything done to it? Any mods?
Boss: yeah! It's got a lot done! It has a turbo timer, an intercooler sprayer in the scoop, a little knob to make the torque go to the rear, and an hks blow off valve! Oh and a new, bigger turbo!
Me: oh what turbo?
Boss: I don't know, but it pushes 24psi so it's probably a pretty good one!

I couldn't bring myself to break the bad news that it was still stock except his timer, bov and turbo (although I'm sure it's still the stock turbo)

The kicker, it's a Jiffy Lube I work at...and he's the manager who knows everything there is to know about all cars :P my friends wonder why I tell them not to go to Jiffy Lube's :P

I'm in Texas so I don't get that luxury, but mine has gotten to where if she is excessively rambling or in a bad mood, ill do a couple of highway pulls and she tries to keep talking but after the second or third one she is all cuddle back in her seat with a huge effin grin on her face.
She just isn't a fan of me breaking the tires loose.

Or I like to slowly accelerate while she's rambling and mid-convo "Holy ****, slow down!!!!"

oh i totally forgot about this thread - a few months back i was doing my occasional 3 gallons of 100 octane and 7 gallons of 91 octane at the local 76 gas station.

a large man filling up gas jugs comes up to me "I've never seen a bmw use race gas"

this was in my 99 RS. i think he confused the blue emblem, but still - at least he said, "happy racing" or something along those lines.

another one was the gf's dad. "i really love your bmw" he says. I say "thanks" not realizing he thought he was in my bmw when he was in my Subaru.

non-car people confuse me sometimes.

What's the point of that? And by simple math would that be 93 octane if that's how it works?

Technically 93.7 octane...But that's besides the point. Why were you putting 100 octane or even 91 in your car? It isn't going to get you any power or anything...

I did quick math in my head. Don't they sell 93 in the pump? They sell 87, 89, and 93 here.

I've never had any problems with just 91Oct, granted I'm stock, but even my old pretty modded mr2 turbo was fine on 91. I did see you said it's your "occasional" 100/91 mix though

I'm still not comprehending why he was putting that fuel in his car...unless he did a swap or something.
