Walked into my local AutoZone last month after a pothole took out two of my winter tires. I needed a tire tread depth gauge so I can see if my tires would be within size tolerance from brand new ones. After asking for one, the employee behind the counter looked at me completely dumbfounded and asked what is that? I spoke with another guy and explained my situation and he couldn't fathom why I was interested in possibly shaving my tires.

Just said okay thanks, nevermind.

Nope. You take a machine and "wear" the tread of the tire down to where it will match the tires you already have. It is called shaving because you basically take a blade and cut the tread down. Very interesting skill, and the people who know how to do it well get paid good money as it isn't easy. Very possible to shave too much and ruin the tire.

My bad, I was being totally sarcastic. Shoulda have added something in there so it was obvious. I know what it is, but thanks.

No kidding, I'm a parts delivery bitch too. I must have quit on them like 4 times and I've been working there since may 2013 lol. I quit but somehow just keep getting suckered back in because I'm good friends with one of the managers. There's no future in those types of places, I mean, yeah, there is, but let's be realistic. Using your own car, wearing out the car.. Autozone or a real auto parts place theres a career, thats where you want to be if your a car guy or idk how else to say it, but if your THAT much into cars. Just a waste, I'm only 19 so I heard $10 an hour for 40 hours a week. I jumped right on it lol. City job over anything, or anything paying my same hourly rate or greater than, and I don't have to drive.. I'm in

It's money, but that type of job is for like if you're retired and want some spare cash. Pretty hard to pay bills living off that

That makes me sad. we live in a country where even if you work full time, you still can't earn a living wage. We are one of the few first world countries that let that happen. We didn't used to though.......

Anywho, a little kid asked me today if my car could fly as he pointed at my STis wing. I chuckled

I'm like scared to grow up, I think what if one day I want to go out on my own or say I meet a girl and we move in together and we can't afford the bills.. It's crazy
