Also, you know you're an enthusiast when you see one of those "other" cars but the guy still wants to talk in the parking lot

I go to the dealership to pick up a new turbo coolant hose because mine exploded. There are 2 honda bros at the cashier and I hear them talking about all these fast hondas and his own project car. I go up to pay and he says to his friend, "This would have been cheaper for my Si." Im confused about what he meant by that. Im waiting to get my receipt and hes talking about how badass and fast his dad's honda is.

I have the worst dealership

Correct me if I'm wrong but a friend of mine that runs 10's at the strip told me that automatic yes shifts faster, but manual trans's could be up to 5% more efficient at getting power to the ground. I'm curious if this is true.

I run a glide with trans brake, launch at 5300 rpm. The computer shifts it ( only 2 gears in a glide) at 6800 rpm. I can't imagine being any more efficient or consistent than that. He might be right in a given circumstance, like something the PS guys run. Idk, but for me a power glide was the most consistent and effective.

Not really much there to debate, but yes. Typically a manual trans will be more efficient at delivering power. Different types of manual transmissions can also be more efficient at delivering power w.r.t each other. Its all about the needs. Sometimes the car doesn't need more power but you pick up a couple tenths by being "quicker". Powah isn't everything

The other day I had a pt cruiser pull up next to me at a stop light and yell at me, he asked what muffler I had on it , told him I was running a blitz nur-spec -r and he said he was gona get one so he can make his of cruise sound like my wrx and give it that extra 50 horsepower I got , I laughed as I drive away to the sweet sound of subie rumble.

I pulled up to class outside on Monday looking super rough (spent all morning doing an uppipe install and no time to clean up) one of the kids in the class comes up to me and asks if I had to still whole in my muffler to get that sounds and asked how the uppipe instal went , I started to get after him about the exhaust and he said that it was the Uel header , impressed I asked him how he even knew what the hell and uppipe was and that the Uel headers made the rumble , he told me he googled it so he could make it sound like he knew about subies , I loled I was impressed he admited that he googled it

I go to a family friends performance shop to get most of my maintenance work done to my car. The two younger guys (probably mid twenties) are the only guys that'll work on my car because they're the only two in the shop that've had imports. The one guy has a 400whp fully carbon fibre body r32 skyline and the other has some 80's ford dualie. One day I'm with them while they're working on my car and the guy withe the dualie goes:
"I bet my truck can take your r32 in the 1/4 mile after I do my turbo swap, I'll be making 400whp."

R32 guy: "I'm rebuilding my engine right now, I'm gonna be at 550whp. And besides, your pos truck is so heavy I bet this impreza will take your truck right now. Hey, kid, how much hp does your car make and how much does it weigh."

Me:"Uhm, 180 crank hp, and its 3100lbs" (I got an 08 2.5i btw)

R32: "see his car has the same power to weight ratio as your truck. Race him after we're done here and lets see. Just for fun, I'll throw my civic winter beater into a race just to prove to you how ****ty your truck is."

Dualie guy: "your on!"

Me: "Woah, I don't want to race, I didn't agree to anything here. I'd probably get smoked by both of you anyway."

R32: "Your truck is still s**t anyways."

Dualie: "My truck will take your skyline any day…after I do my turbo swap…and if you make stock hp again."

At this point I just walked away.

Lol how can you even compare an R32 to a dualie. That's like comparing Mars to Neptune #astronomy
