"That makes the car look great! I'd love to have a worax"

I guess if there were any way to actually read out WRX as a word, that'd be it..

My coworker pronounces it "werks", like the lawn tool brand.

I know the standard pronunciation seems to be "rex", but I like "rix".

Was talking about the new 2015 STI on the web and some honda guy basically compared it to Civic SI with a wing on it.

guy: "let me know how many Civics can 0-60 faster than an SS camaro, RT Challenger or GT mustang. None. That's the answer. Hell this STI will eat a base Corvette up from a Dig and be able to lose it in the twisties as well."

honda guy: "Stock Civic Si.... maybe not. Give me a few grand and I'll be pushing 500hp in my 2013 Si that I purchased a couple months ago. Company in FL does turbo kits for Civics for 1200 shipped. With that gets an Si to 420hp. Computer tune goes to 455, decent cold air intake goes to 475hp, new cams, pulleys and plugs is an easy 500+hp with not a huge dent in the bank. (With a good mechanic). I'd destroy any Corvette, Mustang or whatever else is thrown. People underestimate 4 cylinder cars. It's really annoying. Big engine/lots of cylinders doesn't always mean power."

I still can't believe he said his si would have 420 hp just by adding a turbo and only paying 1300

smh

Customer at my work that came in to pick up his order: Is that your STi out there?
Me: It's not an STi it is just the WRX.
Customer: Really, looks just like an STi?
Me: Yeah, the noticeable difference is the STi has the big wing on the back.
Customer: Oh, does it have a turbo?

It finally happened to me...
A little background... I have 02 wrx I bought 4 months ago. I live at an apartment complex. In my effort to understand the engine and enhance various aspects of the car I'm always looking under the hood and occasionally doing work on it, some friends and I even changed the brakes in the apartment complex parking lot.

Fast forward to last night, i just got a light weight pulley and before I get a few things for the install I want inspect the V Belt to see if I can reuse it. As Im looking into the engine bay about to take off the alternator shroud a neighbor Ive never talked to before (and still dont know the name of) walks up and starts talking to me...

(paraphrasing a bit..)
Neighbor: Hey is that a Subaru?
Me: Yeah
Neighbor: Is that an intercooler?
Me: Yeah
Neighbor: Oh, hows it run? how long have you had it? how many miles? I always see you out here working on it.
Me: Great I love it! About 4 months, 169k..
Neighbor: Oh, yeah, I never got into subarus.. I dont know I always thought they were a bit [pauses for a couple seconds].. tacky. Except the Crosstrek thats nice.
Me: ... (In my head, you know I own this Subaru right? )
Neighbor: The WRX is nice though, those are quick.
Me: Yeah they are, I like those. (The car is not debadged in any way)
Neighbor: [Proceeds to tell me about his pontiac vibe, how cheap it was, how its like a Crosstrek and how you can get all wheel drive but he didnt.]
Me: Yeah.(mean while my girlfriend comes out because we were going to go grocery shopping)
Neighbor:[doesnt look at or acknowlege my gf] How much horse power does this make?
Me:I dont know, never had it dyno'ed but probably a little more than stock so about 190 (I foolishly chose to divulge wheel horsepower instead of break).
Neighbor: Oh, not bad, The WRX is nice tho.
Me: Yeah, I like those..
Neighbor: [says by and walks away]

On a side note:
For those of you that doubt me... A forum post from Vishnu about the Bugeye WHP figure.http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=395213

^Funny thing also is a Subaru owner calling a Crosstrek a Crosstek, and claiming their bugeye makes 190whp. Also, it's brake hp.

You do know people leave letters out by mistake and that his bugeye does make about 190 whp right. And bhp btw is crank hp.
