I drove my 86 year old grandmother from NYC to Boston for a family event. (Her 16 year-old car is "in the shop.") For obvious reasons, I drove very tamely; no hard accelerations, no aggressive maneuvers, etc. No one to hear grandma complain about their driving for 4+ hours, right? We arrive and my relatievs notice my new car.

Uncle: Oh, I see you got a new car.

Me: Yeah, it's ....

Grandma: My Escort could've gotten us here faster than this thing!

My wife told me this story about a conversation she had with one of NY's Finest. She knew it was the stupidest things she's heard and she knows nothing about cars.

Cop: Nice car! What, does this thing have 4 cylinders or 6?

Wife: 4(?)

Cop: That's what I thought. I could tell by the number of tail pipes.

im driving my 2.5i with a buddy in the passenger seat...

Him- "Whats that third pedal you keep pressing? is that the turbo pedal?"
Me- "no man i dont have a turbo. thats the clutch."
Him- "is that something instead of turbo?"
Me-
I feel like alot of people think turbo is like a gear or button because of old arcade video games. turbo was always like a speed or a button to push i remember

That's what I thought when I was little. That the air would be collected and if it was full it could be used

Come to think of it that kid left soon after to get a job at Midas, or Midas's as he called it. Think about THAT the next time the weather sucks and you think about bringing your car somewhere for an oil change

Living in Alaska.
My boss asks why I have studded tires on my WRX.
I tell him because with the roads covered in ICE, SNOW, DIRT, and GRAVEL during the winter regardless of AWD if something happens you are screwed for traction 9/10 here.
They do not salt the roads here and instead half ass it with dirt and gravel. So much dumb here.

He still to this day thinks its funny even though he realised how true it became. I am in the Coast Guard and he was new here at the time.

1. Be glad they don't salt the roads...what I'd give to be free of soo much under the hood rust. One saying around Chicago is 'rust never sleeps.'

2. First comment that made me laugh about my recent purchase: I was driving through a neighborhood and a little girl (5-6) yells to her brother "I want a car like that!" Do I have a chick car??!

typical road salt doesn't work below a certain temperature (don't ask, i forget what it is). rather than spend money on salt that won't always work, they just use sand/gravel to give you traction.

by putting salt on the roads, salt raises the temperature for ice to "melt"
