Why is it that everybody who asks me about the 'rex always ends it with a "you should get a blow off valve!"??

I always tell them it *only* makes a noise- no performance gains, I'd rather spend the money on suspension or something that makes power.

Dude: Bro why do you have roof racks on your car, there's no snow on the ground.

Me: Is this a joke,...Do I know you? (at the gas station)

Dude: Naw man, it's just funny I always see these Japanese cars with racks on em.

Me: Well as you can see, this is a kayak mount and this is a bike mount. Why does your

Mercury couger have a mustang Cobra emblem on it?

Dude: Cause its a spercial edition.

I pulled into work, parked and was about to shut the car off when a cop walks up and signals to roll down the window.

Cop- You better get this car into the shop young man
Me- Why is that?
Cop- This vehicle sounds like it has a misfire. Does it pass emissions with it running like this?
Me- Funny you ask, I just got it tested yesterday. Passed with flying colors.
Cop- They must not have hooked up that exhaust sniffer to your car or it would have failed son.
Me- This car is a 2004, therefore it has an OBD 2 ECU, meaning that the tech just has to plug a connector into the DLC and see if the computer has any fault codes. It didn't, and it passed.
Cop- I had no Idea. . .(long, awkward silence)
Me- So...Can I go clock in or what?
Cop- Yea uh huh, didn't mean to hold you up.
Me- Have a good one.

I just had some guys in a newer white is250 videotaping me and giving me the thumbs up on the freeway. Totally just cracked me up. I've seen people snap pics but this was like the videos we take when we caravan to a meet.

Nice man, happens to me too, even before I did everything to my car. Out of everything done to my car my favorite for the price is my ISC coilovers, just a heads up if you plan on doing anything.

So, went to the dealership here in Saratoga Springs a couple days ago...

Me: Hi, I need an oil filter for an '05 WRX.
Parts guy: Oh, is that the four cylinder?
Me: Um... yeah...

You would think there would be at least some baseline required knowledge to work at one of these places... Then again, most other (non-Subaru) parts guys I've dealt with weren't exactly the sharpest marbles in the box either... Anyway, left me laughing after I was done being pissed off.

Maybe that is the only job he can find...maybe he needs that job (maybe others too) to feed his kids? Maybe your a dick for assuming just because he works there he had a vast knowledge of the WRX?

I hate my job but need it to pay the bills

Living in redneck ass Kentucky, I went to transfer and register my new Scoob the other day and the convo with the lady (after she looked at the title) went like this:

Her: Is this a Suburban?
Me: No, it's a Subaru Impreza.
Her: Is that a car?
Me: Yes

Really ... I've seen this lady working there for at least the last 6 or 7 years, you would think she'd know what a goddamn Subaru is by now, even if they aren't exactly the most common car on the road around here.

It's not that that's the only job he could find, it's that he may not be qualified for the job. What if the owner (some lady who has no interest in cars or driving at all) really didn't know if it was a 4 cylinder? She would say she doesn't know...then the employee might say "Well this one might work," or he might say "Well I can't help you until you figure out what engine is in the car."

The employee works at the dealership because he knows enough about the cars he's selling/fixing/servicing. He should AT LEAST know how many cylinders each car on the lot has, especially since there's a computer in front of his face with the only option on Impreza WRX saying "4 CYL TURBO" or something similar. If he has no idea that every Impreza comes with a 4 cylinder engine, let him go. Seriously, if he's that dumb and doesn't care enough about his job (and what it includes), just fire him.

In before what was a woman who doesn't care at all about driving doing in the parts department?

Every time I go to my dealership to ask questions about my TOMTOM piece of **** stock navigation, I get the manager, the salesmen, and the parts manager cornering me in the showroom telling me they can't warrenty pepboys or advanced auto parts headunits. Even after I've shown the car to the technicians, I've heard "yeah we dont repair non factory head units. take it out and take the receipt back to ____ auto parts." It seems everyone selling these cars is a ****ing idiot who like others have said, has no desire to learn about the cars on the lot that WILL come in for repair. Especially if you treat customers like they're devaluing their brand new car with aftermarket store-brand head units. Why the **** would anyone put an autozone headunit in their 2011 impreza?
