I have to disagree. I know almost every M3 in town and they're all cool people. We don't have any newer (e90) M's. They love my subaru just as much as I love their bimmers. It's a group that loves cars in general. And I must say, my bf's e36 will outhandle my wrx any day of the week along with having an awesome sound system, heated seats AND its a convertible. It shouldn't move the way it does. I love driving it! It may be slower than my car, but its just a nice, smooth (and quieter) ride.

side note: I will agree on any other bmw. just not the M series/certain 335's/the local ZHP. Maybe you guys have a different group of people driving "high-end" beamers but my bf's cost way less than my wrx. and the only girl with an e46 paid less than I was going to pay for an STi and she bought it herself. There are new, shiny bmw's in town with blonde trophy wives and their daughters driving them but they all have NY or CT tags.

my girl lives in jersey and every kid gets a 5 series for their 16th birthday.. its true, not m's. but i figure that a lot of people on the road would just see the bm logo and thats it. Believe me, i was not trying to say the m3 isn't a good car. i just mean that most of the places in NE that i drive, it's much less likely to see a girl in an impreza than any bmw. so the kind of guys who shout at girls in cars would be more likely to shout at a girl in that car, because you don't see it a lot

^well thats just ridiculous. my parents did buy me my first car (2000 nissan sentra) but it was only because theyre divorced and they were sick of bringing me everywhere. I was perfectly happy bumming rides and didn't really have any desire to go get my license. Funny how things turn out since now I drive for fun.

But back to funny phrases and questions...I put a full exhaust on my car and my dad asked me one day if it had an exhaust leak. I said "Yeah, must be a rust hole somewhere." 8 months later, I have still not fixed that darn leak!

^ at the leak. Did you tell him the hole is right underneath the bumper?

ps. My first car was a BMW. And it was a 5 series. A 15 year old one though ... that I bought myself.

I agree with this completely. I live in ny, and it seems like every 16 year old new driver gets a brand new BMW (not m3) from daddy. My parents bought me my first car (a 2000 cavalier) that i shared with my sister until I bought my 2006 WRX by myself.

There is a salt product that is called clear lane, it has a green color to it. My brother's landscaping company uses it for driveways and post office parking lots. It works down to a temperature of -30 F, prevents refreezing and is non corrosive. The other benefit is if you pretreat the surface before a storm it can handle 1-2 inches of snow.

And to stay on topic...

Is that the factory color? Um yes, it's called WRB.

Nah, not all guys. My wife drove my 06 WRX for a few days, then two months later bought a 2010 WRX Sedan. And I go as far as TRYING to get her hooked on mods, right now Im trying to convince her to at LEAST go Stage 1, or 2 depending on if she can maintain the warranty (need to speak with the dealer still). I love that she, at least deep down, likes driving a fast car, theres nothing hotter than racing your own wife, WRB WRX vs. lighting red WRX.

Giggty.
But, I know my wife is a rare gem, she responds the geeky pickup lines like, "Youre mouth says, 'Shields up!' But your eyes say 'a hull breach is imminent!'" I know I found The One!

hahaha he never asked again. He's given up. I bought it bone stock from a 60 yr old nurse. the things been woman-owned for life so far! Then it got yellow fogs, it was lowered, got an exhaust put on it, and pink stockers. yeah, yeah, yeah about the pink wheels. Don't care by now lol He used to be a vette/stang guy in his day. He knew it wasnt an exhaust leak when I pulled away. Gave all of it up for baby seats and a cr-v. slowest driver on earth now!

Why: pick up filter and oil

Humor:

Cashier in his 20's: so what kinda mods you got on the STi?

Me: stage 2 with intake/exhaust + tune

Cashier: Oh cool, im not real big on imports but yeah stis and 240s are ok. My buddy has an 89' 240. Looks like piece of junk but he is getting it aligned now because he just installed a full suspension on it.

*lady walks up next to me and begins putting her items on counter to be checked out.*

Me: *sneaks out of store while he is distracted*

Who: one of our tech's at work. (Freightliner Dealership)

Tech: So, what kind of car is that you're driving?
Me: Subaru WRX
Tech: Interesting... I've never see anyone mod one of those before.
Me: really... (stupid look on my face)
Me: These cars are pretty much made to mod.
Tech: I thought people only mod'd Hondas?
Me: People on NASIOC would hate you.
Tech: What?
Me: Nothing...
Tech: The only thing I'd mod would be an Integra or Honda. I had a Del Sol with some mods on it. It was fast. I've been trying to find another one but they're really expensive. I haven't found one yet for less than 3 thousand. It's an awesome car though.
Me: walking away...
