Sounds like you have a keeper.

My gf liked riding my my WRX when I had it and was sad when I sold it. (had VF34 at ~290whp). Needless to say she was happy when I sold my other slow car and bought an STI

How do You think she got the lancer

Story of me at the subaru dealership about to pick up a wrx or sti with one of my friends.

Dealer walks up to me and my friend asks, "what do you think will win a race, This blue car (sti) or that charger (bone stock base model)?

Dealer "Oh the charger will blow this thing out of the water!"
Me: Yeah right I dont think so.
More discussion goes on.....
Me: Can I take a look at this car?
Dealer: Yeah sure let me go get the keys. What car is this?
He walks over to the sticker...
Dealer "Okay Impreza be right back"
He comes back with the keys, I ask for a test drive and he says okay...
Turning back into the subaru dealership the dealer says "Yeah this is a rear wheel drive V6!"
Me: Actually this is an AWD car
Dealer: REALLY! hmmm??
Me: Yeah all subarus are AWD
Dealer: Interesting I didnt know that
Me: by the way its not a V6.
Dealer: what is it then?
Me: 4 Cylinder boxer engine
Dealer: What????
Me: Nevermind
Dealer: Oh yeah sorry i was reading the paper upside down.....
Me: ???????????????

By the end of this discussion I was out of there......

+1 and at a subaru dealer. I thought that the sales people had to know some basic information about the cars they sell before they got the job.

Right? Mine said words like 'boost at 3000 rpm' and 'flat 4'. This makes me want to go apply as a salesman..

I'd love a turbo kit that would allow boost to kick in from 3000 RPM. I guess with a supercharger that might work.

U mean like the stock one? I meant that my experience was with a relatively informed salesman, unlike some of those mentioned.. I'm thoroughly confused

I normally don't feel anything until at least 4500. It might be working, but it doesn't seem to have any dramatic effect in the lower rev range.

At around 3k, sure, you're beginning to feel some power, but to me it's just the engine "catching up with" the turbo lag. Anything below 2000 feels boggy.

I don't know about you, but let's say I do a running start at about 10-15 mph (which, isn't REALLY a running start) in 2nd gear. You'll start at about 1500ish RPMs, get some power at 2000ish, and then feel a pretty good jerk at 4000-4500. I would like to think that's the boost kicking in.

under 2k mine feels like a 2.5i. @ 3k is when it rips your face off.

Do you have a catted up? Replacing that has a huge effect on driveability

Uh... boost is def present at 3k rpm and it is a flat four. The term boxer came later:

Meh, a tune wouldn't be a bad idea, but I'm running stock, as I thought we were discussing - I am by no means an expert or even that knowledgeable, but I'm just saying it definitely doesn't FEEL like there's any boost until at least 4k RPM. Whether or not that's an issue with me or the car is not what I'm arguing; if arguing at all.

With absolutely no offense intended, the context of your quote:

Especially because it came right after someone saying NEGATIVE things about a dealership/salesman made people think it was also negative. Just pointing out why people didn't see what you were saying.

-----

In other news - I had a co-worker riding with me (2011 WRX) around Lansing, and at a stop light, a super-riced WRX with the STi wing, chrome wheels, and whatnot (sorry, no pics) pulled up to me, gave me a thumbs up, a snide look, and then proceeded to try to do a burnout, or whatever the hell it was. I pulled away from the light slowly.

Friend: Man, I'm so glad you have a WRX. Those Subaru's are such effing rice burners... you shoulda showed him what's up.
Me: THIS is a Subaru, and it's Subaru driver's like THAT that give us a bad name; or drivers of ANY car for that matter.

fair point. I usually go on on my phone now that school started and my computer has a billion windows open all the time. Sometimes it's hard to write clearly from the phone, i should have separated the thoughts. I was just surprised how dismal some of these salesman's knowledge is considering their job.. i mean not knowing that most subaru's are awd flat 4's is pretty insane. I wonder if theres any sti owners telling people they have a rwd v6
