I get this more and more with different people.
My PASSENGER, who's been in the car for a decently long drive to wherever, asks, "You drive a stick shift?" Response: "Nope." |

I don't know where else to put this, but this was just astonishingly stupid.
Just had a local Subaru dealership tell me that the FB engine series will need its head gaskets replaced every 50 to 60k miles just like the EJ series is supposed to. He said this as I was looking at an '11 Forester with the new FB series engine. He said that head gaskets are normal wear and tear and the new engine design doesn't do anything to change the fact that the head gaskets are normal maintenance. WTF. Both sales guys said this. He also said this happens with Toyota, Nissan or any other 4 cylinder engine that need their head gaskets replaced all the time. I double checked to make sure he wasn't talking about the timing belt or something, and he wasn't, he was talking about the head gaskets. ![]() I think I'll shop elsewhere. |

It's sad how most of the world doesn't even remember the standard transmission.

Why would a salesman even mention something like that when he's trying to sell a product?

So today I'm helping a friend put a new radiator in his accord. I'm at auto zone trying to buy the new one.
Clerk: is it the 2.2 or 2.7? Me: 2.2 Clerk: is it vtek? Me: no, I don't think so Clerk: Oh you would know if it was vtek, it would be super crazy fast. I rode in a vtek prelude that did 160. Me: cool story, I'd still take my STi over a vtek prelude. Clerk: you drive that supercharged STi wxr(not a typo what he said) out there? Awesome I bet that thing will go 200 no problem. Me: ya it's turbo not... Clerk: ya supercharged that thing is sweet Me: well, thanks for the radiator I love auto zone. |

Not really funny, but I'm always getting comments about the windows of my SVX. People are always confused when I tell them it's a Subaru. I think they just expect all Subarus to be wagons...

Not a funny story but I thought it was interesting. I pulled into a parking spot at school back on Thursday and next to me a black 370z pulls up. As I get out of the car he starts talking to me
Him: hey this is yours? Is a wrx? Me (not sure where this was headed): um no. It has no turbo but I still enjoy the car Him: o thats cool. I really want a wrx. I want to trade my 370 in it's an 08 I'm already bored of it though. And I'm sick of taking the bus to school during the winter. Me also laughing: yeah that's why I love the car. AWD is great. Did you take a look at evos? Him: yeah I did, my dad wants me to get an evo but Mitsubishis are crap. Anyway we talked a bit more and he wanted an 07 wrx I told him to look on forums and such since you'll always find one for sale. I asked him about his car. He tracks it both auto-x and drag racing. He admitted to be a horrible shifter so his drag times aren't great but he usually takes best in class for auto-x. It was also featured in Import Racing (I think) magazine. I really enjoyed the conversation we had. We talked about cars in general even the riced civic that parked next to me Sorry huge post. |

I really love talking about cars. I always try going to car meets with different cars instead of just Subarus so I can learn more. At one of my old jobs I had a coworker who I'm still friends with, he drives an 04 mustang GT. Me and him always talked cars. He does drag racing with it also. He also hates imports with a passion but oddly he likes Subarus. He told me they aren't known for being ricey and they're AWD not FWD that's why he likes them. I remember I told him one day that Subarus outside of North America come with FWD his jaw dropped from disbelief
