Default NER SCCA Autocross 2011

Just got this in an email... in case you didn't get it, I'll attach it here.

Quote:
Welcome to the 2011 New England Region Solo season. Registration for our first event, Knock off the Rust opens today. This first event is a non-points event, in part to allow us an opportunity to polish our skills before the first competitive event, but also because we are introducing a number of changes to event operations and will be working to “get it right” before the points start to accumulate. The changes (outlined below) are intended to maximize the experience for all by delivering a great experience to a wide range of drivers from national championship contenders to first time novices. The changes also take aim at some of the chronic challenges that have led to delays at our events.

A summary of major changes that may impact your registration for this first event are listed below. These changes will be incorporated into the NER supplemental rules which will be published to the web site by April 1.

Registration

NER has transitioned to http://www.motorsportreg.com/ for registration services. You will receive a communication from Barb Seeger, our registrar for 2011, with specific instructions to create an account and enter our events. I encourage you to do this soon so we are able to work out any “kinks” before the first event.

We are also moving to a “pre-registration only” model for NER events. This was given careful consideration as we want to maintain our reputation of inclusiveness, but we have found that day-of-event registration creates many challenges related to the formulation of run groups and work assignments, contributing to a later than desired start time.

As in the past, pre-registration can be done on-line or by mail. Please be assured we understand this change may cause confusion and we will work with everyone to make sure that the new process doesn’t exclude anyone from our events.

Pro Class

In 2011, NER will offer a Pro Class. The Pro Class is intended for drivers who are focusing on National Level competition and wish to compete head to head with other top drivers in the region. This class is scored on the nationally published PAX/RTP indexing system that balances the performance potential of cars from different classes. There are no specific criteria as to who may enter the Pro Class, but beware -- if you choose to compete you will be going up against some of the best autocrossers in the nation! To be eligible for the Pro Class championship a driver must compete in over half of the points event in the class.

Two drivers per car per class

There is a two-driver limit per car per class. If you intend to enter a third driver, he/she must run in a different class, and the registrar will make every attempt to place that class in a different heat. If a different heat is not possible, the third driver may run in the same heat, but in the different class. You must e-mail the registrar before the event registration deadline if you intend to run more than two drivers in a car in a single event.

Novice Class

Novice class is intended to provide an opportunity for those new to the sport to “learn the ropes”. Participants in novice class will “graduate” to their regular class after completing three to five NER events. Novice class results for a given event will be posted based on PAX results and trophies awarded as in other classes but novice class participants do not accumulate points toward a class champion for the season.

Please feel free to contact me or Barb directly for clarification of any of these changes. I look forward to seeing you on the runways!

Bob Davis
NER Solo Chair
Quite a few changes this year from the past years. Of note is the pre-reg only; change to Motosportreg.com and the new Pro Class.

Registration for the "Knock the rust Off", non-points Solo event being
held on Sunday, April 10th, 2011 at Devens, MA is now open.

While Bob Davis has already outlined the 2011 changes, I'll reiterate a
couple of points related to registration:

**** New this year: Pre-Registration is required to participate.

**** Also new this year is a changeover to Motorsportreg.com where we are
accepting credit cards through motorsportreg's secure web page. To
maintain the current cost of entry, Paypal will no longer be available for
payment. Motorsportreg.com supports multiple pricing, meeting all NER
requirements. Alternately, mail-in registration continues to be supported
if desired. See instructions for mail-in at:

http://www.ner.org/solo/registration

If you are new to motorsportreg.com, use this link to create an account:

http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...register.start

Once done, you will need to add our club to your account.

Log in, select the "My account" tab, select "Edit clubs" , select "Add
clubs to my account", choose "SCCA New England Region - Solo", and then
enter your membership number. Once entered, registration will recognize
your membership.

Below is a link to the Motorsportreg.com registration page for this event:

No more PayPal, but you can mail in.

Thanks for sharing those emails.

I might have to give NER another shot this year. I used to race with NER, then switched to Renegade Miata Club. NER's events were too large, and between the late starts, and carts, you'd only get a few runs. Hopefully these improvements speed thing up enough where everyone gets a little more seat time. I might give them another shot.
