How did you compute for the 2.1% variance comparing 285/35R18 vs 235/45R17 (stock)? Curious as to how I could use this as a benchmark. Thanks!

plug in OEM tire size then plug in whatever tire size you choose and it'll tell you how much bigger or smaller the tire is compared to OEM.

nice calc tool, useful for research. thanks. seems to me the variance mentioned is the %change in diameter from OEM (or where you're starting at)

There isn't many options for 5x100 18x9.5... sucks everything has to be in a group buy or 4 month wait

Well yeah, they're a freaking 18x9.5. You're not going to find wheels weighing less than 17lbs, and the 17lb wheels cost $alaska

All I'm saying is for 5X100 (the correct offset too) it's harder to find 17X9.5 that weigh 17-18.5 a corner and even harder to find the rubber unless you have stupid money to spend on custom made ones $$$$. Pretty sure if I was going to blow that much on wheels I wouldn't have a WRX. But with the BRZ/FRS that should make it a lot easier, selection wise.

My Varrstoen es2.2.1's were 19lbs.

Wide wheels in 18x9.5?

Enkei rpf1 (though not any vendors on this site I don't think)

Why do you want a 17x9.5 when any tire you would want to run could fit a 9" wide wheel. There is a huge selection of those as well.

Hey guys, super newb here looking for new wheels because mine got vandalized D:

Was talking to a rep who pointed me towards:

Only issue being the offset is +43 rather than the stock +53.

I'm looking to push the wheel just a little bit further out from under the fender. Nothing crazy aggressive, the car isn't even lowered. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about!

So I guess I'm just looking for a number, an offset, which will push the wheels out maybe 1/4 - 1/2 inch over stock?

EDIT: Sorry forgot 2011 Subaru WRX stock suspension, fenders aren't rolled, was considering lowering springs.

Any reason why I'd want an extra inch of wheel? Sounds like extra added weight to me.

Support a wider tire, more friendly to wheel bearings rather than an even lower offset 17x8.

But you can use the 1010 tires offset calculator to see what offset will get you where you want to be. Iirc an inch is~24mm. Just playing with that will help you understand offset.

Actually you can get 17x9 of that wheel that are lighter than your stock and your getting more tire between you and the road so a bigger contact patch = more traction plus they look better imho

True but I'd like to run out the stock tires first before changing them out and the same wheel in 17x8 will be lighter than the 17x9 version.

I'm not all that interested in running a wider track unless it's upfront and I can kill some of that damn understeer...

I'm assuming the stock 235 wide tires will be fine on a 17x9? And if I did want to go 17x8 I would need a different offset than a 17x9 would use correct?

I'm considering getting the Rota DPT's 18x9.5 +44 and wheeldude claims 20.5lbs per wheel which is pretty good I thought. Car won't be lowered or raced, just looking for something decent looking since I'm using my stock wheels for winter.

it aint bad for a wheel of that size.

race it all you want. pretty much every one of the top road racing subarus use rotas with 0 issues, by CHOICE.

Yes the 235 will be fine on 17x9 until you run them out. Sways will help the understeer.

That's what I figured. As long as the overall weight of wheel & tire is not more than stock I'll be happy. Don't want the car to feel slower ya know?
