a 255/40 Tire would probably be the best. On stock suspension you should be fine.

this may have been answered but i can't find the answer to it. Do I need to run extended studs on my '11 wrx sedan if I run 5mm spacers all around?

I ran 5mm spacers without extended studs and I was fine. But really. It's always a good idea to have extended studs. I think people say 5mm is the biggest you can go without new studs but it ultimately comes down to what you feel comfortable with. The more you can thread on your lug nuts the better.

the rule of thumb is anything over 3mm you should use extended studs.

okay ive got 18 by 9.5 rota grids + 38, i cannot decide between 255/35 or 245/35, im on bc coils and i have a whiteline rear camber kit, and fenders will be rolled, i want there to be no wheel gap and maybe a little bit lower, can someone help me make the decision...

I'd go with 245/35
Just based off what I've seen on wheeldude.com
Fitment and stance seem to be really good

Hmm, depends ...
I would go with the 255/35-18 tires. Since you plan to roll the fenders, you should clear with 255. The 255 will be closer in diameter to the OEM stock size with better tire patch and grip - less odo error too. 255 will just look better too.

The 245 size will give you better steering feel but more odo error since it is much smaller in diameter than the stock size. But the 245 will be better for shooting off the line and out of corners because of the smaller diam. Perhaps lighter and cheaper too - but be aware that the sidewall is really short which will affect ride comfort (among other things).

Look at all the tire choices in both sizes and that may help you make a decision too. Not everything is available in the 255/35-18 size. Roll first then decide.

I would also like to know since im on epic engineering springs and am considering 17x9 wheels over the popular 18x9.5 choice. Thanks.

I'm considering some gram lights 57 extreme for my 2012 sti hatch with stock suspension (will probably upgrade to rce t2s or gtworx in the future.). Any thoughts on fitment and handling between the 18x9.5+40 and the 19x9.5+43 with ad08 265s (/35 vs /30)? Weights for the wheels are roughly 2.5 lbs different and tires are roughly 1 lb.

Thanks.

Hello all.. After bouncing around this thread for a while and running wheel after wheel after wheel through my head, I've come to the conclusion that my summer wheel and tire setup is going to be Miro 111 wheels 18X9.5 +40 with 265/35/18 tires. probably nitto nt555's or hankook ventus v12's. Does anyone have anything they want to tell me before I go through with this? I am sitting at my stock ride height and probably won't be dropping her for some time... All responses/comments/opinions appreciated. Thanks

Whats up guys. I got Rota MXR 18x9.5 +38 currently with 225/40 and they look just awful. I have coils, rolls and shaved. I want to go with a meaty flush look and get out of this stance garbage I have now. 245/40 still look slightly stretched from pictures I have seen in google. Would 255/40 or 255/35 work without many issues? 2006 STI. I normally buy Hankook Ventus series.

I have tried the Hankook v12 on the track (not on a WRX) and they were slower than the Toyo's we had on the same car. I cannot recommend the v12.

Some tires to try include: Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, Toyo Proxes R1R, Bridgestone Potenza RE11.

The 265/35-18 is the correct diameter compared to stock WRX tires. But be aware that your steering feel will be 'diminished'.

Or he could just get the best street tire in da world, the Michelin pilot super sport, which far outperforms the PS2

If you want a track only tire, the Advan Neova AD08 would be the best choice.

I would not agree with the AD08 as a 'track only' tire. I've had these. They are a great performing street tire. Also good for auto-x if in the appropriate class.

I just got the same wheels in this week. I'm going 245/40 Kumho Ecsta LE's, which is a bit taller and narrower. Once I have them on I can send some pics. Stock suspension, too.

this isn't the thread for you...read the entire thread title before you decide to post. Guide to fitting wheels and tires to the 2011+ WRX. but both of those will take a bit of work to fit properly on your car. most of it depends on ride height, camber settings, and how much you want to modify your fenders.

You guys really need to read KentuckyFriedSTI's post. There is no way in hell a 265 will fit without a LOT of work.

Thanks for not recommending the hankooks. I know I need to roll the rears.. I asked this question after "reading" the entire thread. Then I actually read the whole thread and everything that pertained to the wheel and tire setup I am looking to get. Sorry for not mentioning that..still learning. I gotta say though reading this thread has been the best thing for me. Before I was almost set on a set of xxr's 18X9.75 with 215s...I've seen it on clubwrx but realized how highly unintelligent that would be after reading this thread. And why do you say have fun??
