Default Question on cat back meaning

When someone says there getting a cat back system, does that mean everything is upgraded from the cat back to the rear of the car? If so does that mean the cat that used to be there is gone or does the new set up start just after the cat therefore leaving the original cat in place. Thanks and I hope I didn't make this too confusing.

Cat-back refers to replacing everything from the catalytic converter back. The catalytic converter stays in place and the cat-back bolts to it.

Later,

Dale

So the car keeps all three of its cats then? Thanks.
