Default Diesels and their "cool" black smoke...

Okay so I previously owned 2 Cummins diesels prior to my Subaru, and I never smoked out people "just for the hell of it!". So I was standing on a red light on State St. and there was a white Dodge 24v diesel in front of me. I made sure I stayed 5 feet back as to not give him a "reason" to smoke me out (had my front windows half way down) This ***hole waits 10 seconds for the car in front of him to go, and floors it releasing a huge cloud of black soot! Wtf?! I asked him what the hell he was doing, long story short on the next light he took of normally and no smoke. So he obviously did it on purpose ha ha so since this is Utah(known for having lots of diesels) and this is my first STI...has anyone else run into any diesels that THINK their the s*** and do this to Subaru STI drivers or anything like that??

LOL. What I don't understand is how you were standing on the red light behind him? And if that's true, how'd he get his diesel up there?

Sounds like he was wanting to get on it for the sake of getting on it. I dunno that he was trying to smoke screen you.

I think I might just try that out .....The precision of the STI and the smoke of the diesel, I'm very tempted.

WRX STI isn't rice! ha ha. The only way a diesel would keep up or smoke a Subaru, is if it was pushing 50-70lbs of boost and between 550-700hp. Iv seen plenty of diesels run 11's, 12's, and 13's easy. That doesn't mean they have to act like d***f***s and smoke every "ricer" they see. Respect our "rice" Subaru's

i just calmly pull in front of them at the next light in the tdi passat, and do the same (injectors, chipped, straight pipes) but as an added bonus i don't really accelerate that much so the smoking lasts a good while lol.

they also like to do that to cyclists... i'm in the automotive dept. at UVU and all the diesel guys stomp on the gas everywhere they go, and i think all of them wear cowboy boots and camo hats.

Here in Texas we have the same problem, I prefer leading them into speed traps then convincing them to race.

That actually caused an accident up here by my house. It was in an intersection and this redneck smoked it really bad and his buddy behind him did too. there was a person trying to turn right. His fault because he couldnt see decided to go and there was a car coming through the intersection.

^ You guys got it! LOL. Speaking of the people with this horrible syndrome above.....I had a red 03-05 Cummins "race" me from a light...I was just taking off normally (car makes noise with Q300) he starts slow then flys by doing about 55mph in a 40, and leaving a hazy cloud of smoke behind him. Dude I wasn't racing you lmao. Everyday has a new diesel encounter.

When i fried my rings a few years ago i smoked waaaaay worse than any diesel truck could. I would also go out of my way to find bro trucks and hit the gas in front of them. Fun times. I actually had one guy yell at me for smoking him out. Cant handle his own medicine i guess

My cousin had a dodge cummins...Did the same thing. Then I beat him in a race...and he quit and sold his truck..Btw I am a 2.2l stock N/A. I love having curvy roads. His only mistake, he bought a VW Passat 1.8t

Wow I would have loved to witness that! haha! I bet he was pissed but got what he deserved. I owned 2 Cummins diesels, I enjoyed them but did not enjoy the fuel prices, smoke got really annoying fast, and did I mention there slow as s*** stock? Big trucks like to tailgate me a lot as well...its annoying.

True most stock diesels are dogs bone stock, but with a few proper mods they are actually pretty quick. It doesn't take much more than a chip, intake, and exhaust on a duramax and it will take a stock sti pretty easy.
