Default 2011 WRX limited insane rattle noise

Upgraded exhaust that comes standard with the limited version of the 2011 wrx is causing a severe rattling that seems to be coming from the panel underneath the back window. It seems that this panel is cheap plastic and doesn't feel like its securely in place. Anyone else have this problem? I don't want to have to take it to the dealership.

Is you new exhaust touching the rear diff at all? I had this issue once and it was due to the exhaust having shifted over near the drive train,

my dealer tried to fix it, and the noise went away for a week before it came back. I tried putting padded tape all around it, but that didn't work, so I'm going to have to open it up and pad it better.

I thought Subaru stood for " Very noisy harsh drive train, horrible on gas, but great in snow"

My dealer said i had to pay and he was going to take the whole piece out and line it with foam. The reason you have to pay is because it has nothing to do with driving so they wont do it for free. All i did is put a piece of black foam in between the window and plastic. Fixed it right up

I had the same problem with my 2010, especially when i was in low rpm. Took it to the dealership and they fixed it, no questions asked! When you pay 30k for a brand new car it shouldn't rattle at all. Don't ask them tell them to fix it! They took the piece off and insulated it better, and that piece doesnt rattle anymore. I know this is off topic but--
I have the upgraded sound system in my car (no sub yet) and I had major rattle issues with music on. I didn't even have the bass on that high(3) and it sounded like crap! I've brought it to the dealership 5 times to be fixed. They've re-insulated every door and it still sounds horrible. The driver side buttons rattled so much. Last week they ordered me a new buttons master switches and put it in and it didnt change anything. They ghetto rigged the drivers side passenger button with something and it helped but its hard to put that window down now from that button. I'm so pissed about that and the way the system sounds do to the rattling, a new car with upgraded system shouldn't do that. Sorry to go off on that.

Default Late reply

Sorry for the EXTREMELY late reply - i still haven't been able to fix my issue. The sound is coming from the exhaust area on the outside, not inside the cabin. Any ideas?
