Question Got a question for you.......

I've done multiple searches with no help......i have a 98rs and was wondering if i bought some borla headers if that was a simple bolt up and go application? I've heard that you have to drill some kinda sensor into the header pipe to get some reading? Is there any truth to that or what......but the way there web site is selling them for $308????

Headers are one of the easiest things to install. The only thing you have to be wary about is old frozen bolts. Other than that...piece of cake.

The Borla will bolt up to any 2.5RS...perhaps even to a 2002, but definitely will go straight on a 98 without a problem. No drilling needed.

$308? Damn that's a specific number...I've seen it for $322.12 though. OK, just kidding...I am not sure who sells 'em for how much. I got mine used.

I had similar questions, SPO Tuning (www.spomotorsports.com) sells them pretty cheap too, since they worked together on them. I called up SPO and they were able to help me out with the SOHC/DOHC question. (I spoke to Steve). Hope it helps, I have a different year/model so give them a call for a definitive answer

When I put on my Borla I felt a difference. Granted that was me "feeling" a difference, I have no actual data to back that up. But if I recall...way back in the day...a +9 hp increase was shown. Now I could be totally wrong about that, but I think that is the case.

The Borla is a great design when you take a couple things into account. If you are planning on ever going turbo, you can use that header. If you don't plan on replacing cats, go with that header. If a good warranty is a major consideration, go with that header.

However...if you do plan on replacing the cats...I would think about a different design. There are some crazy bends in that header so it can mate up to the stock cats. And if you are going to replace the cats...why not replace 'em with a better inlet design? And if you are going to do that...why not get a header that doesn't have all those crazy bends at the end?

But let me tell you this...it sure does sound SWEET! I mean awesome. That's a BIG selling point right there.

Having had both...I prefer my MRT.

Guys are you sure the SOHC Borla Header will fit the DOHC I have heard of them having major problems with fitment due to the difference in spark plug location.
