i cant imagen it. i was looking at a 2011 sedan next to a 05 sedan STI trim on both. and it just looked so heavy and fat. idk i like the bass simple designes of past. flared out fenders like on the 02-07 impreza. where they actually pull away from the body. not just a top of fender line like that pic. if any of that makes sense

do you know if that cvt trans is now in the impreza though? i must say the mpg it gets out of the legacy is awesome! but in my 07 forester i push a average of 30 with freeway and up and down canyon driving.

I thought the same thing but then did some research. Turns out Subaru will be separating the impreza from the WRX and STI models. In other words the base model with a turbo will now just be called the WRX instead of the impreza WRX. They are trying to market the impreza as a gas saver and don't want to associate a turbo with gas efficiency. Kind of a weird move, let's see how it turns out!

As long as they don't pull a Mitsubishi and kill the STI.

Wonder if they'll keep the WRX/STI more in tune with the Impreza concept.

^Look how that big mirror attaches far down into the door instead of in that triangle of the front window?

you can do that with any number of cars. the rear triangle looks like a bmw 3 series sedan. the gas door is on the passenger side like an audi. the windshield is in the front like a bugatti. all of those damn windows are made of glass. so what. most cars have the same basic shape anyway. you can make anything look like anything.

buncha complainers.

the only thing that doesn't look great is the wheel wells and wheels being too small. other than that, its pretty good looking.

someone get one and pull the fenders like crazy and run some 18/17x 12's on there. then it could look good again. it looks like they had a wider meaner stance, and drove it through an ally that was too small flattening the flares. boo, the plainness reminds me of other lame cars, good, but lame cars. like the old Camry.

the larger front fenders is also disconcerting, what are we supposed to drive it backwards? it just doesn't look aggressive, even though it's awd something about it screams fwd n/a, and 100 hp at the crank. <end rant>

now maybe the sti they are dreaming up actually has massive flares where those flat wheel arches are now and it's not a total loss?

and when the f are they going to start offering sti recaros!? !

^it's an impreza 2.5i. it's not meant, in any way, to be aggressive.
this car is not for us. this car is to keep the green people happy.

and based on a profile shot, how can anyone tell how much the fenders flare? i bet they don't flare anymore than my 08 2.5i, which is fine, cuz it still a conservative, good looking car.

How many subarus have you seen running a staggered wheel width? Oh yeah..... none. Because they're all wheel drive and don't need to have Marilyn Monroe hips for massive rear wheels.

And you're right, it's not aggressive. Because it's screaming awd n/a, and 150 hp at the crank.

It's an econo-box in every aspect of the definition. I don't understand what the **** you guys want it to look like, a lamborghini?

02-07 2.5i's looked almost the same as a sti. to the untrained eye you would just say its missing the wing and scoop.

now obviously we know that from 05 and up the sti had the wider rear bumper and those little fender flares and wider front fenders i believe but overall they looked similar.

im not saying this isnt going to be a good eco box. i just wish they would have kept the impreza line closer together.
