02 EJ205 rebuild Bearing HELP!
Hey there, so this is my first engine build.
I of course am having problems! I bought a used split short block because it had already had some stuff done to it, like a returned crank. I was told I just need to get the right size of bearings for it and Id be good to go! Well Stock crank journals measure 52mm, my new crank is milled to 51.2572 mm. . . herein lies the problem. I bought the bearings that were recomended to me, which was .020 in oversize, and i installed them. I plasti guaged them and my limit was .05 mm for oil clearance. But mine turned out to be .127 mm, or .005 in. This is too much clearance!! Damn. I am told that there isn't a bearing size that will work to meet my demands here. Why would a damn machine shop mill a crank to a spec like this if there is no bearings!! So, anyone have a idea what I should do? Re-do the crank? Mill it to 48mm? Get a new or used crank? I'd be happy to hear what you guys have to say! thanks
