I actually tried this just to see if it would be the same as the front lights since I am not a fan of chrome either. I got so far as baking the tail light assembly but was unable to separate the bezel from the outer lens. I tried different temps and times in the oven under close watch and tried to pry in 3 different areas to no avail. The plastic either gets too hot (soft) or not hot enough to breakdown the adhesive holding the assembly together.

I did not want to push it and crack a tail light or mar it up too bad. Any one else have success in this area?

Cheers,
Gordo

awesome project...did mine and came out gr8...dont b like me and be lazy and not put the extra sealant on when u bake it back together....andddddi put the oven up to 220...its not too hot but it makes it easier to pull the housing apart..and when i put my headlight back into the oven for reassembly..i say the headlight housing on its back and i put the headlight cover on top so when the goo melted it melted down to where it was supposed to go and it was easier to jus press together

Man my headlights are fogged bad! They were spray tinted when i got em. I stripped all that spray off today, they were still hazed out so I pulled em apart and the insides look horrible lol. Definite fail.

Exactly what i needed. Great job on the instructions! might also do a different color than black but not 100%. i have an 04 and i was thinking of just tinting the red are and leaving the clear alone.

Link for diy on the tails.

If you can buy a second set, they're pretty cheap, this way you can take your time because sealing these is a lot different then the headlights, I used an epoxy plastic welder and have yet to see leaks, knock on wood.

Looks great. How much did it affect the brightness of the headlights at night?

Did this a few months back, went with white instead of black since i love the clean look. Also white bezels on a soon to be OPB car should look nice.
Forgive the mess my bumper is/and lack of turbo.

IM getting ready to do this, can you clear up one thing for me? Which part is the hid backpack? And the " rubber seal " basically I thought all you had to do was remove all the light bulbs? What is the " backpack " can you put that and the rubber seal out for me please!

If the headlight is real hazed out inside and out is there any way you could buff it out or am I just screwed? And if it is possible how would I go about doing it?
