*** SOLD ***
The time has come to part ways with my faithful 1996 Subaru Impreza L sedan. We're upgrading cars so this one needs a new home. This has the EJ22 motor, which has the reputation for being bullet proof. The car runs like a top and is very fun to drive. The car has been incredibly reliable, never left us stranded, awesome in the snow and still gets 25-30 mpg. Transmission shifts smoothly, no grinding. This is a perfect car for a winter beater, first car for a new driver, or a great platform for a rally-cross car. CLEAN TITLE, NO ACCIDENTS Details: 1996 Subaru Impreza L Sedan 186,300 miles 5 Speed AWD VIN provided upon request The good: Everything on the car is in good working order. HVAC system, lights, turns, horn, stereo. *** I have an extra set of 99-01 2.5 RS front seats that I will include with the sale *** Nokian Hakkapelita RSi tires, lightly used three winters, still lots of tread left Oil changes every 3,000 - 4,000 miles Transmission fluid changed ~10,000 miles ago w/ Subaru 75W-90 Extra S fluid Timing belt done around 105,000 miles Clutch changed around 120,000 miles, no slipping, still lots of life left Inspected through October, 2011 New parts: - Spark plugs (NGK) - Spark plug wires (NGK) - Air filter - Exhaust gasket after head and donut gasket Recently replaced parts (last 1.5 yrs): - Front brakes (upgraded to 94 Legacy Turbo): new rotors, pads, and calipers - Rear brakes: new drums and shoes - Passenger front axle - Fuel filler neck - Rear O2 sensor - Battery - Windshield Mods: - Clear corners (matching white corner bulbs) - Osram headlight bulbs - WRX shift knob - Armrest extension - Flat fuel door - 95 Impreza front grill (will include stock grill as well) The bad: The car is rusty, it's lived in New England for 15 years, so it's starting to show. Both rear quarter panels have surface rust and there are some other isolated rust spots on the body. A dear autographed the car last year damaging the driver side fender and putting a softball sized dent in the roof (see pictures). The roof does not leak. Currently CEL is off, occasionally it comes on and throws the P0420 code (Catalyst below efficiency threshold). I've replaced the rear O2 sensor and the exhaust gaskets at the outlet of the header and inlet/outlet of the rear cat, but it still comes on sporadically. The car still gets great gas mileage and has no driveability issues, so the cat is functioning properly. The car does leak oil, we lose about 0.5 - 1 qt per oil change, so it's a very slow leak. It's been like this for 60k miles and I've never had any issues, just keep an eye on the oil level. The U-joint in the shifter likely needs to be replaced, there's significant play in the shifter. It still shifts fine, but it's pretty "loose". The A/C does not work, it was like that when we purchased the car. I suspect it's a leak in the system, but I've never tried having it recharged. Price is $1,500. I've looked around at other cars for sale in the area and based on the condition and mileage this price is consistent with other vehicles on the market. Don't waste my time with low-balls offers, I am not in a rush to get rid of the car and can wait until I get what the car is worth. If you would like pictures of anything in particular, please let me know. I'm happy to provide as many as you'd like. No accidents. A deer ran into the car last year denting the front driver fender and putting a small dent in the roof, but that's it. Windshield was replaced, no other damage. I ran a CARFAX report last week, the car has a clean title.
I've put a fairly comprehensive list of new and recently replaced parts in the first post. Mostly maintenance stuff, engine and transmission are original and operate very well. Timing belt done at 105k, clutch at 120k. The photobucket link (click on the title of the graphic) should show the condition of the car accurately. I am happy to provide additional pictures of anything you'd like. |
