Default 2 Video's from Barber...more CTSCC action!

We just finished up at Barber Motorsports Park for Round 3 of the GRAND-AM CTSCC, it was a bit of a disappointing finish for us in the #6.2 Camaro GS.R. Finished 19th after an accident late in the race which resulted in a penalty that dropped us out of contention. I do have a few laps from the first stint which I drove, the car had to start from the back of the GS field for a tech infraction after Qualifying.

Also I figured that I would show you guys what the car is like in qualifying trim, light fuel-load, sticker tires and a few more tricks. As you can see from the race video, tire wear is our main focus on setting up a car, it is the biggest variable we have to deal with when spending possibly an hour-plus on a set of tires. Our tech infraction was that the front of the car was too low by less than 1/4 of an inch, but rules are rules...

Let me know if you guys have any questions about the cars, tracks or competition! Thanks!

Joey

Great stuff. I was there spectating. One question, how come you share videos on here but SRRT doesn't? I took a pic of the standings when they were in first for a split second, but then had a mechanical. How was the heat in the car?

Thanks for sharing! It looks like your car is much more composed over the curbing than the other cars in the vid.

Thanks for the vids Joey, and at 2:55 in the first one, Well played sir, Well played. Also, you looked very smooth in the race, good tire conservation and patience when passing. I wanted to yell "take the dive" on brakes a couple of times, but you ended up getting by in the next corner or two much more safely.

The car looks a lot quicker in qualifying, but also shows it to be a bit more lairy.

Have the race on my DVR and can't wait to watch it. Seems like you had no trouble hanging with the Rum Bum BMW this race. Thanks for posting!

Some teams and drivers are much more private about their in-car video. In my opinion, I don't have a problem showing in-car video since we compete by the rules, the car is legal, it's clearly not the fastest car out there so we have nothing to hide. If we were 2 seconds faster than the field and are sandbagging to win races, of course I'm not going to post video up of that!

Thanks for the compliments! The most important part about being a first driver in a 2.5-hour 2 driver race is to be able to turn the car over in the best condition possible, and obviously as far towards the front of the field too. I do take lots of risks in the car, but when it comes to passing and potential impact areas, you have to be committed and the other cars have to be aware of what you are doing as well.

As for the car being different in qualifying, yes you are correct. The car setup was actually identical in both videos, but that shows you how much the car can differ on sticker tires vs 40 minutes old, also how much track grip can change between 9am on an overcast cool morning to 130 degree track temps at 12:30 in the heat of the day.

Thanks for being a fan and watching the races on SPEED, I'm sure we will be played as the 'bad guy' for our accident late in the race but you will see what happens. There was A TON of controversy in tech/impound at this race having to do with the BMW M3's and illegal modification of the rear subframe. So much so that Kinetic brought down a stock M3 from a dealer on race-day to show GRAND-AM what certain teams were doing to theirs. All of a sudden Rum Bum's rear ride-height jumped up and the car was not nearly as fast..... We'll have to see how the rules and the rest of the season plays out.
