Default Subie Legacy's a Used Car best buy...

Edmunds names the Legacy's/Outback's as an "Editor's Pick" or something like that for used cars.

Hmmmm.... but was not the imprezza originally derived from a shortened legacy frame? (that's what I heard anyway)

About the used car value, I agree. Suabru's (the more "popular" ones) tend to hold their value better than many other models of the same genre.

True about the Legacy becoming an Impreza, but, the Forester is now considered an offspring of the Impreza.

Believe that the 98-02 Foresters were built on the previous generation Impreza platform and the MY 03 Forester is built from the MY02+ Impreza platform. Increased torsional rigidity and slightly more interior room (good for the back seat folks) are some of the direct benefits in the most recent incarnation. I was just driving my wife's 01 S tonight and it never ceases to amaze me how tough and sorted out that car feels. I even remarked to her that if I could find a good 01 S, 5 speed, I'd take that on as a project car and really build it out. Her Forester is still holding about 83% of its original value and expect at four years, that it'll still hold nearly 60%. Not too shabby.

Br, Dale
