I have the CP635U1 and yes it can tune to 87.7

Ok, so Sat wont work and I'm also going to loose the steering wheel controls?

I guess I need to find a US model.
The SWC issue is not US vs. non-US. It's installing into a car without or with the BT buttons on the wheel.

When installing into a non-nav 2008-2010 (and also some later years that got the "base" radio without USB and without BT -- meaning it looks like and is wired like a 2008):

* Most of the "main" features will work (AM/FM radio, HD, CD, BT audio streaming). The 20-pin power/speaker harness and antenna will be plug-and-play (except for SWCs). There are a few more subtle differences. See my post here.

* If you have an OEM sat radio tuner, that will work completely with the Forester CP635U1. It will work marginally with an Impreza CM631UD that has the 20-pin socket. It won't work at all with the Impreza model that deleted the socket.

* The non-BT style SWCs will not work (see my previous reply).

* If your car has the OEM aux jack, your aux harness at the back of the HU won't fit (old = 8-pin, new = 16-pin). You would need an adapter to make that work. (I can build one for you).

* For BT phone calls to work, you'll need to add an appropriate 2011-up OEM mic, and some custom wiring. The mic from a car with the OEM Kenwood Navi will not work properly.

* For USB, you'll need a USB harness with the OEM plug (to fit the Hirose socket on the back of the new HU). An OEM USB harness is extremely expensive. The parts may be available from Mouser Electronics, but I haven't determined exactly what you would need to build one yourself, or how difficult that would be.

Excellent reply.

I've got the CZ641U6 in my car currently - non-Bluetooth, but I do have factory satellite.

I just didn't want to lose the functionality of the SWC I do have.

I have one, and yes you can, but not easily on demand. You have to go into the secret menu and disable HD across the board, so you can't just flip HD on and off for individual stations.

Just curious, any reason why you'd rather turn HD off?

EDIT: Had a brain fart. You can toggle HD on or off in the normal menu, not in the secret menu.

Thanks,

I just wanted to know in the rare event I prefer it off due to a station constantly switching back and forth on me. I have this issue in my 2000 civic with a kenwood HD headunit. I imagine it is a mixture of the station's signal strength, the poor antenna on my civic, and the head unit... I'm guessing I'd leave HD on, just nice to know if I have control over it.

Just got done installing rear camera in my 13WRX. Turned out great. Used the Rydeen Duo (as recommended by David/SVXdc). Used his camera harness and rev wire. Mounted camera left of plate, OEM camera location. The DUO looks OEM. Hardest part was removing some of the panels without breaking them.

Anyone with the chinese unit off of ebay able to confirm whether or not the oem satellite works with these? Pretty much that's all I listen to. I don't see a button for SAT either.

My Chinese unit does NOT work with my Sirius satellite radio in my 2011 STI. I even tried the steering wheel mode button but it does not cycle to sat. Not a big deal for me, but you may want to still try and source a US model if that is all you listen to.

Just got and installed mine yesterday. Huge improvement over stock! Really happy with it. I am going to take a stab at installing a back up camera in the near future. Also have a spot for the SAT plug, but I don't have SAT radio, but it's nice to know I have to option to install it if I so please.

I can't figure out when adding phone numbers to the phone book, how to type in their names. When someone calls, just the number shows up. I would like the name to show up. Anyone know how to do that? Also, here is the owners manual for the HU http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/695...203Aall_13.pdf

Here is my review (with more pictures) from my journal http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...&postcount=929

I am up in central NJ. What camera do you have? I saw a few options that seem fairly simple.

Is HD Radio and SAT the only thing that is lost by going with the Chinese unit? They seem to sell for about $100 to $150 cheaper.

I ordered mine from China and got it in about 5 business days. Sorry for the picture quality, took this with my "insurance camera". Looks better in person and I am now considering the 3M vinyl for the trim.
