Just recieved and installed my Euro version that I got from Aliexpress. Paid $118 and the took about two weeks to get here. Install is easy and it looks fantastic! My only gripe is that AM radio only kinda works. The tuning resolution/discrimination is 9 Khz unlike 10 Khz in the US. For example if you dial in 630, then the next frequency up in 639, 648, 657, ect. instead of 630, 640, 650...Maybe someone knows a way to change this.

I'm older and do spend some time listening to AM so I would like this to work, but overall I'm happy with it and definitely worth the money.

So if it wasnt for the screen, would this be worth it for sound quality improvement alone for the aliexpress version?

Why not? No improvement on sound quality? This runs contrary to a lot of the posts in this thread?

Installed it in something a little different. Since I went full nav swap [AVIC-X9310BT] in the 2011 STI Hatch I put this one in the 1998 GC Coupe.

Not plug and play BTW, completely different harnesses. The previous owner hacked a junk unit in the coupe so I opted to cut the old plug out and solder the newer harness in. Now the coupe is swappable to any GR head unit.

Short answer: No, your Forester's SWCs will not work (and your car's aux harness has a different plug, too). See this post (#42 in this same thread), and #44 after that.

I just noticed that the camera image on the Infiniti G37 has double sets of parking guide lines. That's usually only the case when someone installed an aftermarket camera, and couldn't (or didn't bother to) disable the lines that the camera generated.

Do you know anything about that camera? At first, I assumed it was an expensive OEM camera that came with the car, but if it's something the dealer added, it might really be something people can find for a semi-reasonable price.

I found this YouTube video, supposedly a 2010 G37 -- shows how to enter the setup menus, disable camera for sonar only, and view the camera even while not in reverse (via the parking line adjustment screen).

Starting at ~2:15, you can see it only has the multi-colored lines (which that OEM HU is generating). The long yellow lines on yours must be coming from the camera itself -- notice how they're slightly skewed from the HU's lines.

Not sure if that's the Cam's fault if the pic. I would guess the screen in the Infinity is better quality. I'm using the Duo. My screen was kinda scratchy til I finalized the install and soldered the connections.

I just got stock 11 Forester HU with HD/SAT radio from local Craigslist for $60
Subaru Stereo Decks
Like you said, After installed, everything works great except Steering Wheel Controls buttons not working at all.
Sound quality better than my stock HU. Anyway I'd keep it

Why wait for a sat unit when u can use one from a 12 impreza or crosstek. As long as the sat plug is on the back of the radio it will work. You can even store 6 presets. The only difference is that you can only access sat by pressing the mode button on the steering wheel control and selecting a preset via the steering wheel only moves the station up or down numerically. Not sure if the regular sat unit has more than one sat setting ie sat 1 sat 2

Just a update, I found one of these head units on car parts.com. Searched 2011 Forester then it gives you a list of deck options to choose from. I found CP635U1 listed in the description. But it was under the indash 6 disc catergory. It was only 200, seems fair.

If you are curious as to how these radios are put together (and how to take one apart), check out this teardown at ifixit.com:
