Default 2011 Center Console Removal

Ok, I can get my head unit out, but for the life of me cant figure out how to remove the center console to install the aux connector. I have completely disassembled dashes on my other cars, but this car is new and I really dont want to break any clips by forcing things.

I remove the back two screws at the bottom of the center storage compartment. The directions say to remove another screw that connects the center console to the surround around the shifter....I cant find it, but the directions seem to be written for a manual, so I'm not sure if that's any different.

Any help is welcome.

The other screw you are talking about should be accessible once you take out the e-brake boot. The boot should just pop out by pulling straight up on the whole boot and plastic reinforcement that you can feel on the driver side. The screw should be right where the e-brake boot and cup holder console meet the shifter surround.

Someone just asked about th same thing. You will be able to find all the info by searching around Nasioc.

As stated above, it sounds like you're missing the Phillips heads screw right under the ebrake boot located at the closest part to the cigerette lighter.

If you wanted detailed instructions hit this link...

http://techinfo.subaru.com/search/index.html

Under "Publication Type:" select "Accessory Installation Guide"

Just select an accessory that would require the console to come out and it will show you exactly how to remove.

Definitely good link.

I already have that install sheet for the aux connector. Problem is they leave a few steps out of the center console removal. They say just remove it. http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/637...h6210fg000.pdf

I'm not sure if something changed guys. That leather boot does not come out just by pulling up. There are two hidden clips at the inside base of the console that you have to press to release it. I almost broke it by pulling so hard till I found those clips. The forward clip is nearly impossible to get at. That screw you mentioned is there, but there's definitely something else holding the entire assembly down. I had all three screws out and still the console and shift surround wouldn't come apart. Something else I'm missing?

Looking at another accessory direction sheet, it looks like I have to separate the front console first! http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/638...h7110sc100.pdf sheesh

Looks like there's a clip at the front of the console as well? I just removed mine and had no problem except I needed to put the trans into drive to remove the shift surround. I think you need to pry the front console clip to get your separation. G'luck

Finally got it all out. It was nothing like any of the directions. There were three more screws not shown.

I did have to put the trans into drive as well.

Yep, those directions SUCK. They leave out everything. They are good for wiping your butt and that's about it. They don't show where clips are located, screws, plugs, or much of anything. Wonder if there is a manual you can buy that has some good information. I am trying to install a new HU in my 2012 Impreza and so far it's discovery over any kind of instructions!
