Default Where to get rallycross practice near DFW

I'm doing my first rallycross next month in Alabama and want to find a local open area to put some cones out and get some practice driving at speed on a loose surface. Anyone know where I could find a spot like this. I'm in DFW but am willing to travel.

We had been looking for a local site to put one on and hadn't had any responses (nearest being Austin area). If you find anything in DFW let us know.

I think we might need to actually organize a rallycross before worrying about "practicing." Or you could just do the time honored Texas tradition of hooning it up in a field out in the country with plenty of liquid assistance. Just please dont call it rallycross when you are doing donuts in a field dodging cows.

I used to go to this road when I had my WRX for some good off road/gravel/mud action. It is a public road, but only normally used by trucks hauling trailers of cattle. If you had a person at either end of the road watching for other vehicles, you might get away with some "practice."

Stephenson Rd. Red Oak, TX
Thanks for the tip. I was hoping to find an open area that I could make my own little course with some cones. If anyone else is interested in this we cold meet up and make an afternoon of it. I still need to find a spot though. Anyone know anyone with some land that wouldn't mind us having a little fun on?

nrusso14, that is not a good road for RallyCross practice on so many levels. Disregarding the fact that you could go to jail for street racing and lose your car, the road is too straight for performance rally, too high speed for RallyCross, not wide enough to allow sweeping turns, etc. etc.

Did I mention there are laws against street racing?

If you find land, let me know. If this is done through the SCCA, you and the land owner are protected by several million dollars of liability insurance. For example if you and a couple of friends are just having fun on your own and your friend manages to roll his car and kill his fool self, his SO might sue you for putting this together. Or they might sue the land owner for allowing it. OTOH, if it is done properly, the SCCA sends a lawyer to defend you in court.
