Default Cabin Filter

I was just wondering when I should change my cabin filter. I have a 2005 2005 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport SE which I bought used 2 years ago with 88K miles and have 103K on it now. I bought it from a Subaru dealership but I'm not sure if they would change it when they clean it up. Also I haven't checked it yet, I was just looking for advice before I start pulling it apart.

Probably not.

Buy a new one and change it?

I change mine twice-a-year.

It should be fairly straightforward to access it (it's behind the glovebox on newer models, not sure on the 05's) and see how it looks. My manual calls for it to be changed every 7500 miles or once a year.

I'd say Big-E advice is good. I've got allergies so I change it after spring and right at the end of fall.

I work for a toyota dealership, and i change cabins airs quite often... from what i have seen, and also pending on ur driving and cabin conditions.. every 10,000 to 15,000 miles they are filthy!!!! i rec. every 10 thousand.. now idk how much subaru cabin airs are but at my toyota dealership they are 27.50 for the filter and charge around 25.00 to install. Which is crazy expensive for a 2 sec install... you would be suprised what you would find in there.. i have seen rats nest, corn, leaves, even dead baby rats.. ewww!!!! lol.. just my 2 cents..

I change mine every other oil change or every 6 months. It can get really dirty in there pretty fast.
