Default amp install help

okay here's the problem, i have power, ground, rca cables and the sub connected correctly the only thing i cant figure out is where the remote wire goes, my car is an 06 impreza with a sony stereo but it has the "kit" so no wires are cut, yet there's still one black cable thats cut all on its own with no power? so i thought it would be my remote to my amp, i plug everything in and nope! lol nothing then i try plugging it in the cigarette lighter it being an accessories 12v power source and it still didnt work? any ideas? whats that black cable? and yes i checked all the fuses hahaha any help appreciated thanks

hmm...pics are the best in this situation. You can always create your own remote turn on lead using an "accessory on" splice. Meaning, you can run a lead to your amp from your HU's accessory on connection. Usual colors on harnesses range from blue, blue/white, or green. Every now and then some American cars like the Sunfire's had a remote lead that was Black. Usually black is considered ground. Blue/White is also sometimes the power antenna lead, but you can use it as a remote lead turn on also.

Best thing is to always have a electrical/voltage tester for quick assurance.

If it uses a universal aftermarket wiring kit, there should be yellow/red/black wires that correspond with constant 12v/accessory/ground respectively. The red wire, if tied into, would suffice as a turn-on wire, as it only gets power when you turn your car to 'on.'

The only difference between how that operates and how a dedicated turn-on operates is that (outside the voltage difference) is that the turn-on would get hot after the head unit turns on, to avoid the 'pop' that sometimes occurs when the amp turns on before the head unit.

If you have a Sony HU, the harness has a BLUE wire in it that is the remote turn on..

Sony harness on the left, notice the 3 blues, 2 with white stripes and one solid blue... Remote turn on..

The black cable is likely the factory "extra" ground that usually goes to the stock HU chassis..

I'm having similar problem. Last owner chopped harness off and spliced (prob saved $20)...

Now I can't find accessory and am unsure on power.

Keep seeing diagrams showing green and yellow as accessory (my car has NO yellow green) and red and blue for constant.
Mind you, I've seen other diagrams online with other colours my car doesn't have...
Very confusing.

It's an MY06

Can anybody please tell me where I might find a diagram for my ADM MY06
P.S. I've been online for hours and am going to bed, but might ha e to start searching online for tutorials on how to use my multimeter tomorrow...
