brand new hardware

So as of right now, to complete my shortblock parts list, i need rods and bearings (Eagle H-beam rods & ACL race bearings). Pretty easy to find, but just trying to shop around for the right prices. Hope to start assembly of the block next week and then get it balanced while the heads will be worked on.

nicely done on the determination and learning things the hard way. If I dont have the correct tools, I simply cant rig stuff. I guess its my training from school holding me back.

subscribed for another EJ205 equipped STM GC.

I'll definitely go through this thread if my motor pops - which we all know is a matter of "when". EJ205 bearings = Rotary Apex seals haha

I'll also hit up that subaru guy for some random parts as Im in socal also.

Just curious, you say this is an 04 ej205 right? Is it an 04 WRX block with a STi intake mani? The only reaso I ask is cuz the 04 STi is an ej25. I'm not trying to correct u at all, I just got confused. Anyways, I'm about to rebuild a ej207, and I was curious as to where you got the gasket.kit?

i got the OEM gasket kit from the subaru dealership. And yeah the STi manifold did not work out. Your going to have to make a custom plate to get the wire to work with the IM. Good luck on the 207 build!

So a trick I learned from a guy who works on his own Porsche is to smack a stuck bolt with a hammer and drift. Hit it from alternating directions and then head on with the socket in place. Do this a few times (8-10 blows total) and you'll "wake up" the bolt - that's a Porsche term - and it totally works. Saves broken tools and stripped bolts.

^^ like he said, tighten the bolts a bit first then it should crack the loctite, rust, or corrosion so then you can unscrew it. It took me so long to learn that little trick
