Default The WRX experience

Sure - I like to brag about my HP!! But lets give credit where credit is due - - The WRX is a very vercitile and flexable car - I just love it - - its about much more than just HP

All in one week . . . .

Drag strip runs on WED night - 95 degree temps - launching with 4 wheel spining - runs consistant 12.5 at 115 mph (seats taken out)

Saturday - go to tri-state subaru meet - hit 160 mph on the highway on the way there - steady as a rock - - on the way back went thorugh mountain twisters about 30 miles long thorugh Harriman State park - blew away a Miata - he couldn;t even get close to me - the WRX was handling amazing and the prodrive breaks were fade free no matter how hard I hit them - the car is now understeer free with the battery relocation; front bumper beam removal and air bag removal

Sunday - seats back in the car - drove the wife and baby in the baby seat to a party through bumper to bumper holiday traffic

There may be some cars that are faster - - but I don't think there are many cars that can do so many things as well - at any price - - its an amazing car

I agree. So far mine has been rock solid. It took a real beating last night racing. Its a bullet proof car.

I agree Al, the impreza is definatly one of the most versatile vehicles out there now(until the Lancer EVO comes i suppose).
You did 160MPH!! That must have been a fun ride, I wonder if the 5MT tranny would even be able to do that, IIRC when my wrx was stock it topped out at c145MPH, I havn't been stupid enough to go that fast again though with my mostly OEM suspension..

The 5spd actually has better gears for speed - - the 6spd from the type RA is maxed out a a tad over 160 - i think the max possible speed is 163

The type UK gears are a LOT higher in 5th and 6th gear - it is geared for 190 plus - - if you could ever make enough power to get that high

I think its going to be interesting to see what Cobb does afetr they reclocate to Salt Lake City, Utah later this year - the salt flats !

What helps the top speed a lot is lowering the nose down real low with coil overs to keep as much air as possible from under the car - - stock its so high in the air it practiacally starts to sail !

As for the EVO VII - I have this Japanese car video where they do street crazy driving; drag racing and a road course track race with several japanese cars - including GTR; RX7; NSX; STI regular and STI RA and evo 7 - - - it was just amazing to see the way the evo VII dominated the entire field in all catagories - No doubt the EVO VII will be a great choice if they don't water it down too much

Its kinda simple really. What do all the versitile dominating cars have in common? High HP with AWD. That is the best combo for versatility. No big mystery why Rally uses it so much. We can go world wide on this too. S4 is a very versitile car, and wow high HP with AWD. I wish they made more cars like this everywhere. Like Holden, I could go for an LS1 powered AWD car.

Why the american car companies don't do this is beyond me. Maybe it's because they are too busy trying to sell you some AWD SUV crap. If Ford actually sold their AWD focus, or even the old escort, you would have found me driving a (gasp!) ford.

I always smile inside when I give someone a ride, and they don't think twice about the Japanese econobox. But after a pass, or sharp corner, they start looking around the interior for a label.

"What kind of car is this?"

"A Subaru."

"Subaru?"

Priceless.

most definetly it is a well rounded car for the price and the performance. this is why people have been reaving about it for the last 8-9 years all over the world. Finally we got this car and look at what people are doing with it in a little over a year. I mean I will a skyline GTR over it but still it will cost double or more the money.

Plus wait until the STi makes it over here... The sky is the limit...In five year we will have 500hp Sti's all over.

Cheers and enjoy the car. I sure do...
Boy do I love the SUV's get when they try to go around me at the lights...

Although I would not mind a AWD Holden with a 350ci ...mmm no not really.

An AWD 350 LS1 Holden would be a very new experience. Linear power curve but AWD handling..... That would be damn fun.

i guess that's cool if you are into inefficiency.

it would be too heavy, and it would break down every week.
just like the current mustang cobras.
