Default GR fire extinguisher mount?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to securely mount a fire extinguisher into my GR hatch.

Brey Krause has an Impreza specific model (R-2315) but that only works up to the 2007MY per their support, and there are currently no plans to manufacture one for the 08+

Anyone have any luck getting their universal mount to work with our stock seat rails? http://www.bkauto.com/porsche/r9540.php

Does anyone else make a mount for the GR chasis?

thanks guys and gals.

I might be blind but I didn't see any pricing on that site. How much do their brackets and quick releases cost?

I made one out of 1" wide mild steel from Hope Depot, was in my car for many years without issues. I used rivets to put it all together. It was for my MY02, I'll see if it fits in my MY11.

Default Ok so I'm talking to myself on a Saturday....

So as I've said I'm just goingto "build" or jimmy a bracket to hold the extiguisher in the car. Placement suggestions? I'm looking at left hand side of the pasenger's foot box, or on the floor behind the pasenger seat, maybe tucked behing where a rear seated passenger's feet would be. Now what kind of clips to use? Can't find where to buy just ordinary old tool box style clips, would they be strong enough anyway? Don't want that thing wanderig arround the cabin in an accident!! Found this beeeauty from SpeedMechants but ...... 230$

That's from Brey Krause. I think it is their one-handed release latch.

That's pretty neat. Looking forward to the 08+ version too.

Also - I went by home depot the other day and they had a sale on first alert automotive extinguishers. I paid ~$20 with tax for a 2.5lb bottle.

has anyone mounted a fire extinguisher in their GR? I was thinking I could put one on the floor in front of the front passenger seat via a custom bracket/plate

I borrowed a Brey Krause R-2315 from Roman (tech at my local shop Turbotime). He has it installed on his 05 Forester XTI. I used it for my 08 STI one weekend at VIR for a Porsche event. It fit without a problem.

I keep forgetting to reply back to this, I did look at my old home made GD bracket and it will not fit in my GR. But the same design would work: a piece of 1" wide aluminum from HD/Lowes, bend in a vice and rivet on a couple of piece to attach under the passenger front seat bolts. I've since learned how to weld so I might weld one up for the new car. I'll post a picture of the GD bracket sometime soon.

I reached out to BK with some pictures of the space available at the front of the passenger seat and they told me it wouldn't fit the GR...but Si1ver&B1acK is making me think otherwise.

I went another route.

I've got it wedged in upright between an audio integration enclosure and cardboard box of automotive seat protectors that's all held in place by the oem subaru cargo net.
