I really like this!
I actually did see a bugeye yesterday at PIA that had done the same thing, just with yellow fog lights.
Looks really good though, I might have to give it a try too.

would one be better off using 1000's rather than the 500's? or ar the 1000\s too big or something?

i am looking at getting more lighting on my bugeye, but the regular fogs are so close to the ground they last about a month. i like the lights behind the grill, but i dont want to melt the **** out of it. I wants lots of lighting :/

Arghhhh. I JUST rigged up a bracket for my bugeye yesterday and got my 500's hooked up. My bracket is attached to the single bolt in front of the hood latch, like another member on here made (his was on a blob-eye and the thread is in the lighting forum) and the hellas are mounted sideways off of that.

Then I realized that turning the FF's sideways like that makes the beam pattern narrow and tall :/ ...

Why couldn't this thread have been posted earlier so that I would've spent less time fabricating my bracket and instead made the correct one the first time. Looks great btw!

1000s are all over 7 inch diameter lights and are far too big. The 500s, while getting 'cut off' bottom and top a bit, fir perfectly depth-wise (bumper to radiator) and height-wise so they can be centered behind the grill (they sit right against the inside top of the grill when centered behind it, no cutting required!).

If you google "hella 500 melting grille" you can put those worries to rest real fast. This is a popular mod in the truck world it seems and no one reports problems with melting, at all--reason being that your grill is the same composition as is 75% of the lamp housing so they simply cannot by design/bulb used produce that much heat.

I plan on doing this, during the weekend. Is there any way you could post the dimensions for the light bar itself and the "U" metal pieces. Also, how did you determine where to drill the holes for the Hella's?

Thanks in advance.

i like that alot. Thats very creative. One thing i like most about it is during bad snow, you wont have to worry about cleaning your lights off cause these wouldnt be touched by snow. Thats awesome. Kudosss dude

I like this. Thinking of using your install ideas to replace my OEM driving light when they eventually get displaced for brake ducts. Although the 06-07 front does limit the available area. I like the black magic Hella 500s but I think I have access to a leftover set of Piaa 520's a friend had on his jeep. These might work also, just have not compared size to the Hella 500s.
kh15, a photo of yours in the daylight or a heads up on how they installed in your 2006 would be great.

Are these just regular halogen bulbs?

just cut a bit of the bumper away to clear the lights. I have a mesh grill on the way so they will really show through and really brighten up then.
