Default P0456 Cel

Hey ladies and gents. I own a 2007 STi with 42k miles on the odo. Ever since I bought the car (33k miles) I would get the P0456 (very small evap leak) about every 2 to 3k miles. I have searched a bunch of forums and I have looked time and time again with my car but I could never find a problem. I heard of some people saying there could be spider webs in one of the lines, or I need a new gas cap.

The gas cap from the look of it is fine, but I'm not quite sure, I'm still new to all of this.

One thing I do notice is that when I get out of my car and get close to my tank I can sometimes get a faint smell of gas fumes.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with theirs? I'm getting tired of resetting my ecu almost every oil change.

Any input will help!

Thanks,
Robbie

Same issue here. Take it to the dealer, with the CEL on and have them do an evap test. More likely than not it's the Fuel Cut Valve going bad.

I've had this issue for a long time now. Sooo annoying only because it ruins my Cruise Control.

I've replaced gas cap, and PVC valve. I guess it's the Fuel Cut Valve Next huh?

We really don't like going to the stealership for stuff like this.

there is no such thing as a 'fuel cut valve'

there IS a purge valve and there are a few other things...but a slight leak at the seal at the tank where the pump assy installs is frequent source if this cel code
