Default 225 vs 235

Is there any benefit to running a 235 vs a 225 for an 04 STi? Does the extra width make any noticeable difference?

Depends on the tire, but yes. I would not go any larger than a 235 with an STi in stock power, or you lose all the low end grunt due to the increased contact patch.

Of course, I am talking about this from an autoX point of view... so it depends on how you are using the car. If you are just driving it, 225/45/17 is fine.

RE01Rs/Starspecs I would get a 235/40/17 with -2.75 camber, no toe, and drive it.

I understand the feeling for that response. Most people just want something "better". Without talking about ride height, spring rate, application... etc, giving information is pretty "meh", especially if you are just talking about "shades of grey" setups.

Still, for an STi with stock power, a 235 is a better tire choice, even for the stockers, imho (even on a 7.5" wheel).

I left it ambiguous for a reason.
